'A Parks and Recreation Special' Preview: Leslie Knope and Ron Swanson discuss 'venison jerky' amid quarantine
In times of dire crisis like these, what better way to lift your spirits while cooped up within the four walls of your home than have Pawnee's very own councilwoman Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) checking up on your every moment?
It's been five years since the finale of 'Parks and Recreation' but now, they are bringing back the same old timeless charm, mindless banter and ridiculous jokes that the NBC sitcom amused us with. The reason? To donate funds for the Feeding America charity that aims at helping the underprivileged and frontline workers by providing food to them daily. But if you're as impatient as us about what's in store in the reunion, here's a special sneak peek into the special.
As previously teased by series creator Mike Schur, the reunion special will see Leslie practicing safe social distancing and reminding everybody in her 'phone tree book' to do the same, while also catching up on their physical and mental health. In a newly released promo by the network, Leslie can be seen video-calling one of her closest friends and former boss - Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman.) Even though Ron claims he has been practicing social distancing since the age of four their conversation quickly turns to meat - duh - and not the vegan kind. No, Ron hasn't changed his perspective on meat but has, in fact, hunted and stored enough to last him a 12 years' supply all because he wants to avoid going to the grocery store at all. If there's one person benefitting from this quarantine, it's clearly him nestled quietly in his cabin.
Ron, being the generous gentleman he is, offers to send Leslie some of that supply, but warns her that she might have to get her 'incisors sharpened' to dig into some of that 'venison jerky' he has mastered. Good to know that even a decade later Ron continues to be just as conscientious as ever, but he isn't the only one who returns in the Pawnee special. Dropping in will be 'Everyone, Literally!' from the OG cast of the show that wrapped its final run in 2015. Leslie keeps chatting back and forth with her congressman husband Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott), and of course, her special concern is her best friend Ann Perkins (Rashida Jones), which means wholesome positivity as Ann and husband Chris Traeger (Rob Lowe) sprinkle our screens with all that's good and worth living for.
There will also be April (Aubrey Plaza) and Andy Dwyer's (Chris Pratt) mismatched couple dynamics along with Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari) and his partner in crime - Donna (Retta) returning to give us some much-needed self-love goals amid quarantine. Even Garry joins in with his dysfunctional, not so tech-savvy cluelessness and who can ever forget some of Pawnee's gems like Jean Ralphio, Joane Calamazzo and our very own Perd Hapley.
They are all back in the absolutely unmissable reunion titled 'A Parks and Recreation Special' airing on Thursday, April 30, at 8:30 pm ET/PT only on NBC.
