'He was calm very, very calm, he lunged across at me. I felt the stuff on the table and felt the panic button and just pressed it. Next thing I know the cops were there,' Sharon said

Former Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, in a new documentary, has revealed details of the night he decided to kill his wife, Sharon Osbourne, decades ago in 1989. Ozzy, in 'Biography: The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne', said, "I felt the calmest I've ever felt in my life. It was like serenity. Everything was just peaceful," according to People. The documentary, based on the singer's long and controversial career, aired on A&E on Monday, September 7.

Ozzy and Sharon, in the documentary, divulged the details of the infamous night when the singer began choking Sharon while he has high on a concoction of drugs. "We'd had a couple of fights," Sharon said. "You can tell it was building to something, you could just feel it. I just knew it was coming." While recounting the night, Sharon said that she had just finished putting their three children, Kelly, Jack, and Aimee, to bed and had gone to her bedroom when Ozzy appeared in the room inebriated.

"I had no idea who sat across from me on the sofa but it wasn't my husband. He gets to a stage where he gets this look in his eyes where his shutters are down and I couldn't get through to him," Sharon said. She then added that Ozzy turned around towards her and calmly said: "We've come to a decision that you've got to die," and then he began to choke her violently. "He was calm very, very calm and he lunged across at me. I felt the stuff on the table and felt the panic button and just pressed it. Next thing I know the cops were there," the singer's wife Sharon added.

The former rockstar, who said that he doesn't remember much about the incident, was taken into custody for attempted murder. "I asked the cop 'Why am I here? and he says, 'You want me to read your charge?' So, he read, 'John Michael Osbourne, you have been arrested for the attempted murder of Sharon Osbourne.'"

Ozzy said that he was left "very, very surprised" when Sharon later decided to drop the charges against him. "It's not exactly one of my greatest f------ achievements," the singer said in the documentary.

The A&E documentary features interviews with former rock star's close family members, it also includes interviews with friends and fellow musicians such as Rick Rubin, Marilyn Manson, and Ice T. Ozzy, earlier this year, had announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. The 71-year-old musician, during an interview with Robin Roberts on 'Good Morning America,' in February 2019 had announced his diagnosis, saying, "It's PRKN 2" and added that it had led to "the most painful, miserable year" of his life. The singer was reportedly diagnosed shortly after having neck surgery, which he said "screwed all my nerves" and numbed parts of his body. "They cut nerves when they did the surgery," he said of the surgery. "I'd never heard of nerve pain, and it's a weird feeling."
