'One Chicago' Crossover 2019: The 'biggest crossover' yet leaves fans amazed and a little terrified at the end of the three-hour event

Most viewers might have nightmares after watching the crossover that looked a lot like 'The Walking Dead' with the flesh-eating bacteria wreaking havoc in Chicago.

After a long wait, fans finally got to watch the 'One Chicago' crossover and they were not disappointed. The premise of this year's crossover event was sparked by an idea from Dick Wolf -- Derek Haas took that little idea and turned it into a three-hour rollercoaster ride that will leave fans stumped for a long time to come. While Haas wrote the story for the 'Chicago Fire' episode, Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider wrote for 'Chicago Med', and Rick Eid wrote for 'Chicago P.D.'.

Everything from the acting to the background score, to the makeup, worked together to create what can easily be qualified as the best crossover in perhaps all of Dick Wolf's shows. As one viewer tweeted, "#OneChicagoCrossover One of the best Crossover yet!!! Amazing job by the cast, camera, writers, makeup, film crew, and all the behind the scenes crew from all 3 shows. It all flowed together flawlessly." Another viewer -- who was impressed by the actress who played the girl Hailey interacted with while in quarantine -- wrote, "#OneChicagoCrossover It was quite excellent! The cast worked together so well! The disease makeup on cast was super realistic!! Who played Amanda? I've seen her before and she was superb! Thanks for a great crossover event!"

Long-term fans of the 'Chicago' franchise are feeling proud of the crossover, expecting nothing less from the writers that have elevated the quality with each crossover. 32 days of production culminated in this almost-movie but fans have not had enough. One fan even suggested that for next year's crossover event, the producers should have a six-hour event spread across two weeks. Fans especially loved the little sweet moment we got between Platt and Mouch making sure they were okay.

At the end of the night, however, fans are figuring out how to calm down after the tense crossover. One viewer tweeted, "Time for everyone on #OneChicagoCrossover to go on an extended vacation after everything calms down." Another viewer knows that exercise might be futile and wrote, "When I can’t function at work tomorrow because I can’t turn my brain off to fall asleep tonight - I’m blaming the #OneChicagoCrossover".

At the end of the day, the whole cast and crew of the 'Chicago' franchise need to congratulate themselves. The crossover event is usually hyped a lot and the episodes lived up to that hype and then some! After the crossover ended, Derek Haas tweeted, "We love you Chicago. Thanks for all you do for us. And thanks viewers. We appreciate you more than you know. And thanks to 3 amazing crews, casts, and staffs. A seriously powerful night. I am so proud. #OneChicagoCrossover [sic]".

'Chicago Med', 'Chicago Fire', and 'Chicago P.D.' airs on NBC on Wednesday nights.
