'One Chicago' Crossover 2019: It was the Halstead brothers' night to shine as they steered the teams through the tense event

Will and Jay Halstead both took the drivers' seat in each of their franchises. Will worked with a team of doctors to find a cure for the bacteria and Jay managed to talk down the culprit.

The 'One Chicago' crossover event has come and gone and fans are still grappling with the tense three-hour cinematic phenomena. It began at a Chicago Bears game and evolved into a city-wide man-hunt as chaos descended on Chicago with the outbreak of the flesh-eating bacteria. It was the biggest crossover as Derek Haas promised and each show merged into the other, you couldn't tell where one ended or the other began.

On such a night that involved 93 characters, two characters stood out on top: Dr. Will Halstead and Detective Jay Halstead. When the victim count increased, Sharon called in the CDC who was led by an old friend of Will's, Cheryl. Will and Cheryl worked with scientists from Chicago Central University (CCU) to find an antibiotic that would effectively cure the infection. Of course, one of the scientists they were working with, David Seldon, was the culprit and Will caught him trying to destroy the samples and Seldon bashed Will on the head and escaped. But Will remembered they used a small amount as microscopic samples and was able to salvage it to work on the cure. By the third hour, the cure was ready and Will headed to the BRT Health Industries offices where Seldon was holding people hostage with more of the bacteria.

This brings us to the younger Halstead brother. Jay was at the game at the beginning of the crossover episodes as we saw him toss a ball around with Casey of 'Chicago Fire'. He was on top of the investigation from the very beginning -- running prints to identify the first victim, keeping Intelligence updated. Even when his partner, Hailey Upton is quarantined, he works endlessly to catch the culprit. He manages to talk Seldon's ex-wife into surrendering when she was holding a gun pointed at them. He also succeeded in keeping Seldon talking towards the end of the night at the BRT office, giving Intelligence enough time to position themselves to take Seldon down. Jay went as far as cutting himself when Seldon threatened him.

The Halstead brothers are two of the top favorite characters on the show. Will Halstead was even the first character we met from 'Chicago Med'. The interactions between the two brothers are always loved by fans and this week's scenes would be at the top. At the end of the crazy night, Jay and Will grab beers at Molly's in a much-needed quiet moment as the episode ended. It was clear from the get-go that the Halstead brothers would feature prominently and the actors, Jesse Lee Soffer and Nick Gehlfuss were absolute scene-stealers.

'Chicago Med' and 'Chicago P.D.' airs on NBC on Wednesday nights.
