The first official trailer for 'On Becoming a God in Central Florida' is finally here after two long years of wait, and along with that comes the joyous announcement of a release date too! The dark comedy series stars Kirsten Dunst in the lead role and has finally been picked up by Showtime for a summer premiere.
Back in 2017, the show was slated to come out as an AMC production. But before filming had even begun, Dunst had shared with Entertainment Weekly, “We have to find a new home. It’s being put together. It’s so good and everyone just needs to make it happen now!”Also teasing her character Krystal Stubbs's evolution, Dunst had mentioned: “She’s [a badass], but she becomes that. It’s going to be one of the most fun roles I’ve ever played. It’s a great pilot!”

The first episode of 'On Becoming a God in Central Florida' arrives on August 25, only on Showtime.
Plot:
Set in an Orlando-adjacent town in 1992, the show chronicles Dunst’s Krystal Stubbs, who is a water park employee trying to juggle her minimum-wage job with several schemes, making her way up the ladder at Founders American Merchandise, a fictional pyramid scheme like company run by a resourceful an called Obie Garbeau II (Ted Levine).

Dunst had produced the series alongside George Clooney and Grant Heslov. Initially, Oscar-nominated 'The Favourite' filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos was set to direct the series, but as of now, The One I Love‘s Charlie McDowell has been assigned to helm the pilot in his place.
