ROCHESTER, NEW YORK: A New York fire captain pressurized fellow firefighters to attend a racist party at a Rochester mansion that mocked Juneteenth with racist imagery, and also featured Trump cutouts and KFC buckets in front of Juneteenth flags. Captain Jeffrey Krywy took his three other co-workers to the party which was supposedly a private event, but Krywy insisted his colleagues go. Now, before the disciplinary proceedings could begin and result in his termination, he resigned.

Captain Jeffrey Krywy took firefighters Jerrod Jones, who is black; McKenzie 'Mack' Neal, and Aurelio 'Angel' Perez to the East Avenue house while on duty on July 11. The party was at dentist Nicholas Nicosia and his wife Mary's home and was meant to be a private affair. As per NBC, the city's mayor announced on Tuesday, August 16, that Captain Krywy resigned "before termination proceedings" could begin following an investigation by the city. Mayor of Rochester Malik Evans explained that Kryqy chose to retire after he was presented with the "determination of the investigation, requiring him to leave the service."

Jerrod Jones, 40, filed a notice last week signaling his intentions of suing the city of Rochester and the Rochester Fire Department (RFD) as well. While talking to Daily Mail, Jones' lawyer, Nate McMurray said, "We will use the attached document as the basis of our lawsuit going forward. But we would prefer to resolve the matter with the City." The notice of claim was filed on August 11.

Captain Jeffrey Krywy forced Jerrod Jones to a racist party

As per the notice that is filed by Jones and his lawyer, the 14-year veteran of the force right away felt uneasy when he saw a huge cutout of former President Donald Trump in the driveway. The notice reads, "Near the flags he saw buckets of Kentucky Fried Chicken prominently displayed - an apparent use of the racist trope recycled by bigots to mock Black Americans." The property also had pictures of "local democratic politicians on stakes across the grass and around the backyard, including members of the Rochester Police Accountability Board and a picture of Councilman Mitch Gruber among many others." In a press conference covered by News 8 WROC Jones explains why he is suing the city:

The notice also revealed that there was a woman with a red wig impersonating Democratic County Legislator Rachel Barnhart. While the attendees would yell "sexually explicit comments" at her, "The woman danced in a mocking, but sexual, manner to please the attendee," as per the notice. Jones explained that he reported this incident to the acting battalion Chief George Smith, who was "shocked" and promised "immediate action." However, no investigation took place and he was scheduled with Krywy to work the next shift. Jerrod Jones is now asking the court to award him $3 million in emotional damages and $1 million in compensatory damages.
