HARNETT COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA: A North Carolina judge had slapped a juror with 24 hours in jail after he chose not to wear a mask even after the judge warned him of the consequences. Gregory Hahn, a former US Navy veteran, was among several of 98 jury duty candidates called upon Harnett County court, and most of them were without a mask. Since there was no rule or warnings given on wearing a mask was "mandatory," Hahn, stood by his decision and refused the order of Judge Winston Charles Gilchrist.

On the Tucker Carlson Tonight show, Hahn shared, “I said, 'I'm not going to wear a mask', and he goes, '24 hours in the Harnett County jail.''' The juror reasoned that there was never any mention of a mask in the jury summons he had received, and moreover, there weren’t any signs around the courthouse, reported WRAL. “The irony of all this is the judge was talking to me without a mask. If safety was such a concern, I go to jail no mask requirements with inmates," Hahn reflected.

Recalling the incident Hahn, 47, said, "We were in [an assembly room] for about 20 to 30 minutes, shoulder-to-shoulder, with three-quarters of us not wearing masks. So the virus – if there was a virus out there – contaminated us anyway. So I was called when they called roll call, I made eye contact with the clerk and she said, ‘I need you to come over here for not wearing the mask.’"

He went on, "I asked to be excused since I wasn't even selected for jury duty yet; it was still orientation. He could have exempted me. 98 people showed up for jury duty and I thought I was just going to be in a holding cell for 24 hours." The ex-Navy officer further said that he reckons that he "felt there was some bias" in the judge’s order to jail him and is sure he was "bullied" for standing by his guns, as per Daily Mail.

Hahn told Carlson while remembering his day in prison, “It was the worst 24 hours of my life. I was refused to make a phone call to my minor child who is home.” He continued, “I got motioned in. I got changed into an orange uniform. Got a roll of toilet paper, toothpaste, towel, and grabbed a mat. And I'm walking with inmates to a cell. I never thought this could happen in this country.”

Hahn works as the CEO for a local marketing and leadership consulting firm, Construction Optimize. He was also furious to notice not a single juror came in his support among the other 97 when he stood up to the Judge’s order. Hahn also expressed that he is contemplating filing a lawsuit against Judge Gilchrist over his decision. “I'm jailed for doing my civic duty and not doing anything,” Hahn said to WRAL, “It's mind-boggling.”
