Nicolas Cage's ex-daughter-in-law Hila Coppola seeks $30K legal fees to fight for child support
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Nicolas Cage's ex-daughter-in-law, Hila Coppola, does not seem to be stepping back in her legal battle against her ex-husband Weston. She has reportedly now asked for $30,000 to pay for her legal fees as she decides to take the court's help in getting additional spousal and child support from him. Coppola submitted her request to the Los Angeles Superior Court on May 22, which stated, “I am requesting need-based fees based on the disparity in income and access to financial resources between respondent and myself.”
Coppola continued, “I need attorney’s fees in order to engage in the discovery process as well as prepare for trial and/or engage in settlement negotiations. The attorney’s fees request includes a request for a forensic accountant to analyze respondent’s complex financial situation, given his fluctuating trust income and the financial gifts/support he receives from family,” per Radar Online.

“The purpose will be to ascertain the respondent’s true income for the purpose of calculating child and spousal support. The main directive in place is a Child Protective Services letter, which states that the father shall not be permitted to live in the same home as the children and me, and should not be allowed access to or visitation with our children until he addresses and demonstrates proven sobriety and manages his mental health concern,” Coppola added.
‘Weston is currently still living the same lavish lifestyle’
Earlier, Coppola demanded $4,634 per month for her two-year-old twins — Venice and Cyress. According to Radar Online, she alleged, “(Weston) and his family have thus far not taken any active involvement in the children’s either emotionally physically or financially. Weston is currently still living the same lavish lifestyle as far as I know. (Weston) has never lacked any financial support as his family has always helped him indulge in this lifestyle.”
Besides, Coppola also accused the ‘Ghost Rider’ star of breaking his promise of taking care of his granddaughters. Citing her ex-father-in-law, she reportedly said, “It’s an impossibly strange feeling to know that I failed as a father while welcoming my grandchildren today. I want you to know, circumstances; life gets in the way sometimes—however, what comes next, I hope you know I will protect you and your children – it will be on me.”
However, she recently asserted, “Nic is allowing his son and the mother of his child to commit despicable deeds against his daughter-in-law and his granddaughters, despite my plea for him to talk some sense into Weston and his promise to ‘take care of us if Wes doesn’t.”
‘Mr. Cage has no involvement or participation in the matter whatsoever’
Weston has, however, challenged the accusations by reportedly claiming he gets $7,300 on a monthly basis from his 59-year-old father. He insisted on giving $2,000 a month to Coppola. Also, Cage's lawyer, Brian G Wolf, issued a statement, saying, “Any statements regarding our client, Nicolas Cage, are denied. The divorce action is between Mr Cage’s adult son and his former wife.”
“Mr Cage has no involvement or participation in the matter whatsoever. Mr Cage categorically denies any and all accusations made by his son’s former wife. He hopes that his son and his former wife are able to promptly and amicably resolve their differences and move on with their lives,” Wolf added.
