It was a major upset for the Edmonton Oilers as the Chicago Blackhawks pulled a scintillating 3-2 win to advance to the Stanley Cup playoffs on Friday, August 7. The win saw fans celebrate on social media, especially with the two teams sharing a rich rivalry over the years. For some, it was a classic 'revenge feels good' factor as they weighed on the Blackhawks' win. Here are a few choice reactions that garnered responses and opinions on Twitter.

"The Blackhawks won their first series since the Stanley Cup championship in 2015. Since then, the organization has experienced hard times. This series win wasn’t a fluke. The dynasty core meshed with young talent. You’re seeing the Blackhawks back once again. Enjoy it," wrote Chris Emma.

"I absolutely don’t believe the #Blackhawks took out the Oilers. It’s the only good thing that’s happened in 2020 so far. Revenge for all those years they knocked ya out in the ’80s," read one of the tweets.

Here's one from a Penguins fan: "My Penguins got eliminated today but I love the city of Chicago and I definitely respect and like the Blackhawks so I’m officially rooting for you!!! Congrats!"

And so the digs began. "Wonder where all the Oilers fans are that said we were not gonna win the last two games," wrote a fan.

Some were simply surprised by the Blackhawks' performance. "Where did that defensive performance come from? Crow absolutely stellar. They can win this tournament if they can keep this up. Let’s gooooo!" read one of the comments.

Here's a rather sportive tweet from an Oilers fan. Safe to say it was all respect. "Good luck on your journey. I'm not in a good space. Our D is brutal and their defensive IQ is garbage. Coverage was awful, all series long. Oilers need alot of pieces to get better. Good series. Solid battle. Have fun playoffs, boys."

Despite the rivalry, it's just about accepting the better team won, as one Oilers fan wrote, "Congrats u guys were the better team. Hopefully, the oilers can learn from your core guys what it takes to win."
