It was quite the jolt for 'New Amsterdam' ardents when the show, in its second episode of the fourth season introduced a character that most felt "smells of bad news". Doctor Veronica Fuentes (Michelle Forbes) was introduced when she gets a call from Karen Brantley (Debra Monk) to come to the New Amsterdam Medical Center to shake up things for the folks at the hospital.
This comes after the announcement during the Harvest Festival where Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold) and Helen Sharpe (Freema Agyeman) make their announcement that they would be leaving New Amsterdam and head off to London. Karen gets miffed at the news and storms off even as the rest of the team tries to come to terms with the announcement. With this, the most important question is how Dr Fuentes impacts New Amsterdam?

Who is Dr Veronica Fuentes?
Fans on Twitter felt Fuentes would disturb things at the medical center. "It’s Dr Fuentes and she is coming to destroy all the good work Max and Helen have done for New Amsterdam Ugggghhhh I could punch Karen in the face right about now," one of the fans tweeted. This was seconded by another who wrote: "Karen wasted no time.. Dr Fuentes about to shake things up… #NewAmsterdam." The thoughts carried on. "Fuentes bout to shut all this s**t down! #NewAmsterdam," a fan remarked.
Forbes is set to recur as Dr. Veronica Fuentes, and TV Line described her character as “a calm, poised and fearless fixer who is brought in to ‘reconstruct’ the failing hospital.” Her plan to help is to “wipe clean the inept board.” From the looks of it, it might be that she will clash with Max and the staff of the hospital and that would be the central storyline of the season going forward.
