'New Amsterdam' Season 2: Fans hope Georgia takes one for the team with all signs hinting that is exactly what may happen

As much as we love Georgia, it does seem like she is going to be killed off on the show, especially since her death would have no real impact on 'New Amsterdam', and more importantly, it would help Max evolve as a character

Fans of 'New Amsterdam' have been waiting impatiently for the season two premiere, primarily to get one answer — who died?

Season one of the NBC show ended in a shocking cliffhanger that no one saw coming, and now, the lives of three of our beloved characters, Georgia (Lisa O'Hare), Helen (Freema Agyeman), and Lauren (Janet Montgomery) hang by the thread.

After helping Georgia through childbirth, Max (Ryan Eggold) had only just heaved a sigh of relief that both his wife and daughter are okay, but it seems like he may have to say goodbye to his wife as soon as the series returns.

The ambulance that was taking Max, Georgia, baby Luna,  Helen, and Lauren met with an accident. We know from the promos that Max is alive but worried. Two of the women he cares about and respects are fighting for their lives along with the woman he loves.

While we would love for all three of these ladies to walk out of this accident unharmed, we know that medical dramas are never that lenient.

As much as we love Georgia, it does seem like she is going to be the one who is killed off on the show, especially since her death would have no real impact on 'New Amsterdam', and more importantly, it would help Max evolve as a character.

As an idealistic medical director battling cancer, he is already a hero we can all root for, but his "smiling through the pain" MO would be amplified if he were to become a single father who is fighting cancer, having just lost his wife, and is also passionate about saving lives.

Not to mention, his beloved wife's death would allow writers to open up another storyline that quite a few fans are looking forward to — the romance between Max and Helen.

At the moment Max is too in love with his wife, and Helen is too respectful to cross any boundaries with a married man. However, if Georgia was out of the picture, eventually this is a love story waiting to be written.

What we must also keep in mind is that Helen is desperate to be a mother and was even considering adopting the baby of one of her patients. With Max, she would be able to become a mother to Luna instantly and fill the hole Georgia leaves behind.

While we are not looking forward to Georgia's death, we are looking forward to seeing 'New Amsterdam' again, so don't forget to tune in to NBC on Tuesday, September 24.
