'New Amsterdam' Season 2 Episode 3: Patients are dying and Dora is bidding farewell, could things get any worse?

Zabryna Guevara left the show after getting promoted from assistant to a medical director at NBC to a doctor at ABC.

Things at 'New Amsterdam' are not running as smoothly as medical director Max (Ryan Eggold) would like them to, especially since patients are literally dying. The staff is trying to figure exactly why a common procedure has suddenly become fatal, and the answer may be in plain sight.

In the trailer for the upcoming episode, we see Bloom (Janet Montgomery) saying that the hospital-wide epidemic is the result of being poisoned, and from the looks of it, there is some type of adulteration happening in one of the medicines. While the hospital is filling up with patients who are sicker than when they got there, the company which sent the medicines seemingly fails to take responsibility.

In a scene from the upcoming episode, we hear their lawyer tell Helen, "We are in compliance with the FDA," to which she replies, "Perhaps I will go on TV." It remains to be seen if Helen is actually able to take them down and hold them accountable, but it sure is going to be a Herculean task, and Max tells her as much. "They will destroy you," he says, adding how he cannot "do this" without her.

Max, the doer, the people's doctor, the champion of underdogs, is telling his friend and colleague to not take action in the face of injustice? Well, he better have a back-up plan, because whether there is love story brewing on - low flame - between them or not, we cannot stand with New Amsterdam if they turn a blind eye to the injustice meted out the dead patients.

Meanwhile, in another heartbreaking news, Max is looking for a replacement assistant because Dora (Zabryna Guevara) is no longer working for New Amsterdam. It remains to be seen how they address it on the show, but Guevara left the show after getting promoted from assistant to a medical director at NBC to a doctor in ABC. She can be seen alongside Allison Tolman in 'Emergence', which airs on the same night as 'New Amsterdam'.

While we are excited for Guevara, it will be tough to say goodbye to Dora. Things could not be any worse at New Amsterdam, but see if it gets any better by watching Season 2 Episode 3 of the NBC show on Tuesday, October 8.
