'New Amsterdam' Season 2 Episode 3: Floyd's going to get jealous of Lauren's "PT sessions" with Ligon, but will he leave Evie for her?

Hopefully, things will get sorted out without too much mess, and Floyd and Lauren can get together before the end of this season.

'New Amsterdam' Season 2 is just two episodes in, and it is all too clear just how much emotional and physical pain Dr. Lauren Bloom (Janet Montgomery) is in, especially since she is staying away from all types of pills — even painkillers — to combat her addiction. It has been three months since the accident that killed Georgia (Lisa O'Hare) and emotionally wrecked and widowed Max (Ryan Eggold), and she is still wearing leg braces, and undergoing physiotherapy.

In the previous episode, we saw that she tried to adopt many methods to combat the pain, including stress balls and fidget spinners, but nothing seemed to work until she found the perfect distraction — sex. Lauren ends up sleeping with Dr. Ligon (JJ Feild), her physical trainer, even though she seems to find him unbearable. Despite his condescension and nonchalance, he seems to have feelings for Lauren, which hopefully will be explored in the coming episodes.

We, however, are more interested in seeing how their relationship will affect Dr. Floyd Reynolds (Jocko Sims), who had rejected Lauren's romantic advances because he wants to be with a black woman. Well, he got the wonderful, and beautiful life partner of his dreams in Evie (Margot Bingham), and they even got engaged. It does seem like they are keeping the engagement a secret, seeing as their friends and colleagues went to hell and back immediately after.

Even though we love Evie as a character, and even though Lauren assured her she will never come between her and Floyd, it seems like Floyd and Lauren is the endgame. While Floyd's reasoning to reject Lauren is aspirational, it is clear to the naked eye that the chemistry between them is intense and cannot be ignored. In the previous episode, we saw him confusedly staring at Lauren, who was in a good mood after her "session" with Ligon.

He is definitely going to get jealous — we are calling it — but hopefully things will get sorted out without too much mess, and Floyd and Lauren can get together before the end of this season. To see how their story unfolds, watch Season 2 Episode 3 of 'New Amsterdam' which airs on Tuesday, October 8 on NBC.
