Nevada plane crash: ‘New Father’ Ryan Watson, 27, identified as paramedic who died alongside 4 others
STAGECOACH, NEVADA: Ryan Watson, 27, identified as a Flight Paramedic who became a "New Father" in January, lost his life along with four others in the unfortunate plane crash that happened near Stagecoach, Nevada on Friday, February 24. While Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is yet to release an official statement regarding the identities of the deceased, the CareFlight paramedic’s friends and relatives identified Watson as one among the five who got killed in the deadly plane crash.
Ryan Watson lost his life on Friday night when a medical services aircraft headed to a hospital crashed 25 miles southeast of Reno, killing everyone on board, including the pilot, nurse, patient, and patient's relative. Watson’s family identified him online saying he and his wife Kailey welcomed their first child, Carter, on January 19, 2023, after getting married in June 2021.

‘Ryan was a loving Husband, New Father’
A GoFundMe page was created by one of Watson’s acquaintances, Savanah Green, where she penned a heartfelt obituary for the deceased paramedic. “Ryan was a loving Husband, New Father, Son, Brother, Friend, and an incredible care provider whose dedication to his family and community was unmatched,” the post says. Eulogizing Watson’s love and dedication to his work, she further continues, “Ryan loved being a Flight Medic and brought a positive attitude to every call and patient interaction he had.”
Green also commented on his “infectious personality.” She continues, “he was hilarious, ambitious, and free-spirited. He loved traveling the world and going on extreme adventures outside of work with his beautiful wife Kailey, Family, and Friends."
The fundraiser is organized to accumulate money in order to support his widow and the infant in these difficult times. “The beneficiary is The Watson Family,” mentions the post.
What happened in the crash?
Remsa Health released an official statement on its website on Friday notifying the crash of the “Care Flight Pilatus PC-12 fixed-wing aircraft”. It said the plane “went off radar near Stagecoach, Nevada" at around 9.45 pm. "Central Lyon County Fire Department has confirmed that none of the five people on board survived,” it further added.

‘Just so sad and heartbreaking’
Condolences poured in social media for the deceased 'new father' along with the four other victims. One user wrote, “This just so sad and heartbreaking...there are not adequate words. My heartfelt condolences and prayers to all the families.” While another sympathizer said, “Hug your family a little tighter today. As a wife of a first responder these days hit a little harder. This one hits a little closer (heartbreak emoji) as a community we must rally around the families.” Another netizen commented, “Praying for the family for healing and peace during this difficult time (heart emoji).”
Another person who personally knew Watson, wrote, "Last night, we attended my granddaughter's graduation from REMSA Paramedic school here in Reno. Later that same night, her colleague was killed in a Care Flight Medical transport airplane crash near Reno, NV. This young man was a good guy. He and his wife just welcomed their first child, born last month. Very sad."
