Netflix's 'V Wars' starring Ian Somerhalder, Adrian Holmes, Kimberly-Sue Murray, and Laura Vandervoort is set to be released in a few days and for fans worried that they might be inundated with shows from the vampire genre, they need not worry as Adrian Holmes says the Ian Somerhalder-produced show is set to be very different from the shows they have seen.

In an exclusive interview with MEA Worldwide (MEAWW), Holmes had spoken about his character, Michael Payne, who is exposed to a deadly virus that causes vampirism, and then becomes Patient Zero, essentially the first Vampire. Michael -- who is best friends with Somerhalder's Dr. Luther Swann -- then finds himself on opposing sides with Luther as a social divide causes "humanity to side against the new species."

So what can fans expect from the first season (and hopefully many more) of 'V Wars'? Initially, the season will serve to introduce all the characters to audiences, and Holmes adds, "go on a wild journey of love, identity, social acceptance, and divide."

Though Holmes promises "a lot of blood, sweat, and tears," the series will also deal with many relative issues we are facing today. Holmes says at the core, the show is about best friends who are torn apart but try to do the right thing while being conflicted."

Holmes emphasizes that 'V Wars' "is not a supernatural show," but instead, "it is grounded in reality dealing with relative social and environmental issues that we are plagued with on a day to day basis but is wrapped in a fictitious narrative."

When an infectious disease takes root and begins to spread, humanity tries desperately to take control over it. But that's not all, the reason the virus got released was because of "environmental issues like global warming," as Holmes says, "leading to exposure to the deadly virus."

'V Wars' does not shy away from many of the other issues plaguing us today, and Holmes adds, "Racism, politics, medicine, science, research are some of the issues dealt with in the show."

For fans of the original comics of the same name by Jonathan Maberry, from which the series is adapted, Holmes assures that the show will stay very close to its source material, with the same characters, tone, and energy. There are a few differences, however -- Holmes says, "In the novel, Michael and Luther don’t know each other until the outbreak. My character is an actor and a barista in the books whereas, in the show, I’m an aviation specialist and is best friends with Luther Swann."

Holmes hopes that 'V Wars' is "well-received by the fans and the media and that they appreciate the story we’re trying to tell," and reiterates that 'V Wars' is grounded in reality (something he loves about it).

'V Wars' will be released on Netflix on December 5th.
