Who stars in ‘The Nurse’?
Josephine Park as Christina Aistrup Hansen
Josephine Park plays Christina Aistrup Hansen, a Danish nurse who starts craving drama during slow night shifts at the Nykøbing Falster Hospital and begins to create her own at the cost of the patients she is in charge to treat. She quickly befriends the new nurse, Pernille Kurzmann Larsen, and they grow close but the latter started to suspect some foul play after witnessing Christina’s bizarre behavior and outright lies which is when she starts to keep a distance.
The writer-director Kasper Barfoed stated during a conversation with Netflix Tudum that everyone in the hospital just knew that she was a great nurse who was super skilled and very charismatic but was later accused of killing multiple patients. While Christina took it a step too far, her addiction to hospital drama is not uncommon in trauma care. To this day, the nurse, Christina Aistrup Hansen, maintains her innocence. Is this an example of small-town gossip snowballing out of control, or a sinister case of serial sociopathic harm? Park starred in the series ‘Baby Fever’, ‘Doggystyle’ and ‘Attachment’.
Fanny Louise Bernth as Pernille Kurzmann Larsen
Fanny Louise Bernth plays nurse Pernille Kurzmann Larsen, who is fresh out of school and eager to prove herself at Nykøbing Falster Hospital. She immediately became friends with and idolizes Christina Aistrup Hansen, but as time passes, she begins to suspect that whenever Christina Aistrup Hansen works the night shift, people die.
During the series' announcement, director Kasper Barfoed stated that Pernille Kurzmann Larsen will be the main point of view for the audience because she starts to think about things and puts her job on the line to find out the truth, adding that it only takes a certain type of personality to risk it all. Pernille is the one who contacts the Danish police after realizing that her coworker may be murdering the patients. Bernth is a rising star who has appeared in films such as ‘The Lord's Ways’, ‘It's So Charming’ and ‘A Horrible Woman’.
Amalie Lindegård as Katja Lorentzen
Amalie Lindegård plays Katja Lorentzen on the show who is Pernille’s friend at the hospital and who is also curious about the wrongdoings of Christina but does not say it out loud or something against her to avoid trouble. It was until later during the investigation, she comes up and shared that she has suspected Christina for a while now.
Barfoed had explained that “There were people, including Katja, who said, ‘Yeah I’ve noticed things as well — let’s look closer. But if you want to do this kind of thing, you’re on your own”. Lindegård is featured in the series ‘Baby Fever’ alongside ‘The Nurse’s co-star Josephine Park and has a recurring role in the series ‘29’.
Peter Zanderson as Niels Lundén
Peter Zanderson stars as Niels Lundén on ‘The Nurse’ who is a chief resident physician at Nykøbing Falster Hospital who even though easy-going starts to take a romantic interest in the newly joined nurse Pernille Kurzmann Larsen. As they become close, he listens to her theories about Christina and soon becomes involved in uncovering the truth. Zandersen is known for his role in the series ‘Borgen’. He has appeared in the series ‘Tæt på sandheden med Jonatan Spang,’ ‘Elvira’ and ‘The Sommerdahl Murders’.
Other characters in the true-crime show include Dick Kaysø as Kenny Herskov, Selma Kjær Kuscu as Alberte, Sofia Cukic as Marlene, Stephanie Nguyen as Diana, and Mathilde Eusebius as Ditte. ‘The Nurse’ comes out on April 27 on Netflix.
