Folk legend Neil Young is once again making headlines and this time with a great offer of providing a four-month free subscription on music streaming platform Amazon Music for new users. Yes, you heard it right! Neil Young,76, after his controversial take against the podcaster Joe Rogan and fallout with the music giant Spotify, is now encouraging his fans to join Amazon's music streaming service for free.

Two-time Grammy winner Young, in his latest tweet, encouraged his true fans to tune into his work through Amazon Music subscription and offered newcomers a grand welcome by providing four months of free subscription from the company.

Spotify listens to Prince Harry and Meghan, to add 'advisory' for Joe Rogan-like podcasts

Young plugged all his 76,000 followers on Twitter to switch towards a new streaming platform by saying, "Amazon has been leading the pack in bringing hi-res audio to the masses, and it's a great place to enjoy my entire catalog in the highest quality available. All of my fans who are looking for my music should use this link amazonmusic.com/neilyoung for the US (or amazonmusic.ca/neilyoung for Canada, etc.). All new listeners to Amazon Music will automatically get four months free."

Young was earlier trending among his fans on Spotify with over 72 albums under his name but last week, he threatened to remove his music from Spotify unless it fired Rogan, who's been accused by critics of pushing "anti-vax misinformation" on his podcast.

Joe Rogan is a US comedian and UFC commentator who has gained a huge following with his Joe Rogan Experience Podcast, launched in 2009. On this podcast, Rogan claimed to be part of the team that invented the mRNA technology used in the Covid jab and said that pharmaceutical companies administering vaccines have "financial conflicts of interest".

Last April, Rogan discouraged young people from getting the vaccine during a conversation with comedian Dave Smith, "If you’re like 21 years old, and you say to me 'Should I get vaccinated?' I’ll go no."

Owing to such derogatory and misleading comments on such a big platform by a podcaster like Rogan, Young, and other singers resorted to abandoning Spotify by pulling their albums and works from the streaming platform. His fans too were enraged by Rogan's anti-vax agendas and fumed at Spotify for keeping him with the company and not adhering to Young's request.

Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle are also calling on Spotify to fire Rogan. The couple, who signed a $25 million deal with the streaming service, have since April been expressing 'concerns' over Rogan's commentary but the couple has not split with the firm, instead said that they were "committed to continuing our work together" as it addressed their issues.

Other musicians have also joined in on the boycott of Spotify, including Joni Mitchell and Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band guitarist Nils Lofgren. This new offer by Young will route a large number of audience and fans to consider Amazon over Spotify and help this fuel the monetary goals and quality of music for the users.
