Spoilers for Season 7 Episode 1 'Something in the Air, Part 1'

The Season 7 premiere of 'NCIS: New Orleans', did its utmost to raise awareness surrounding the initial stages of the pandemic, which we spent cooped up indoors. Bodies start piling up at the morgue as Dr Loretta Wade starts losing her faith even though insisting on the importance of masks. But even with all necessary protocols into action, some maladies cannot be avoided, and such was the case with special agents Tammy Gregorio and Quentin Carter.

The end of Episode 1 titled 'Something in the Air, Part 1' saw the two agents in grave danger inside a burning ship with no hints whatsoever if they will survive or not - leading fans to assume the worst - they got barbecued.

According to the official synopsis of the episode, "As New Orleans grapples with the effects of Covid-19, Pride sends Tammy and Carter to investigate a suspicious death aboard an offshore humanitarian ship, Wade is overwhelmed by the high volume in the morgue due to Covid-19." It is the same ship that all things come tumbling down for Carter and Gregorio. They arrive at the ship to find a secret room filled with three very likely Covid-positive crew members. And the murder on board was to keep these positive cases a secret so the ship could dock in New Orleans without having to quarantine.

With Carter and Gregorio onboard and the likelihood of the Covid cases prevailing, the agents can't get off the ship safely, neither can they dock. So eventually, when they seem to have solved the crime and put the hints together, there were still on the premises where a violent fire seemed to break out. The two-headed to the cargo deck to retrace the murder victim's footsteps but found the area lit ablaze instead - something that has left fans very worried because come on - Carter just joined and Gregorio just came out!

Taking it to Twitter, a fan complained, "Oh no! Tell me that didn't just happen! You're gonna leave us with Gregorio and Carter on a burning boat until next week?!" Another gleefully punned: "Well hello! Talk about a news "flash" for all of us viewers! Gregorio and Carter almost got barbecued!" Another quipped: "Poor Carter & Tammy. That's one way to get rid of evidence on a ship."

Suggesting alternatives to the two of them obviously getting harmed in the explosive cliffhanger, a fan shared: "Are they still on the ship?? Or does the ship have a medical facility cause wow that would be cool" Here's hoping they jumped off the ship or whatever it is, with the ever so dashing Pride zooming right in time to save them on lifeboats or something like the absolute godsend he is!

'NCIS: New Orleans' airs on Sundays at 9 pm only on CBS.
