National Peach Cobbler Day is observed annually on April 13th. This is the day to indulge in the traditional dessert, which is normally made with fresh peaches and topped with a buttery and crumbly crust. Peach cobbler is a wonderful comfort dish, whether eaten warm from the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or chilled with a dab of whipped cream.

In addition to celebrating the arrival of spring, it is another wonderful way to celebrate the abundance of fresh peaches that comes with it.

In the southern United States, peach cobbler is a favorite dessert. Peach cobbler originated in the nineteenth century as a result of an unsuccessful attempt by an American pioneer for gathering the necessary materials and tools for baking peach pie. In the 1950s, the Georgia Peach Festival launched National Peach Cobbler Day to raise cash for the canned peach industry.

Peach Cobbler is a classic American dessert. English and European colonists who arrived in America invented peach cobbler.

How to make Peach Cobbler at home?

Ingredients

1) 8 peaches

2) 1/2 cup brown sugar, divided

3) 1/2 cup white sugar, divided

4) 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

5) 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

6) 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

7) 1 cup all-purpose flour

8) 2 teaspoons cornstarch

9) 1 teaspoon baking powder

10) 1/2 teaspoon salt

11) 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (cut into small pieces and chilled)

12) 1/4 cup boiling water

Steps

1) Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

2) Cut the peaches into slices after pitting them.

3) Combine the cut peaches, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornflour in a large mixing basin. Mix in 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup white sugar until the peaches are equally covered.

5) Pour the peach mixture into a baking dish (2 quarts is ideal).

6) In a preheated oven, bake the peach mixture for 10 minutes.

7) While the peach mixture bakes, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and the remaining 1/4 cup white sugar and 1/4 cup brown sugar.

8) Blend in the butter with a pastry blender or your hands until it is coarsely integrated.

9) Stir in the water until smooth.
