'An ongoing investigation'
"Nathan Millard, 42, was found deceased this morning around 3.34 am in the 2900 block of Scenic Hwy," Baton Rouge Police Department wrote in a statement on Facebook. They added, "The cause of death is unknown at this time as autopsy results are pending. This is an ongoing investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available." Police had launched a search on Friday, February 24, after he failed to show up at the property site to meet his working client.
He was ever able to make it back to the hotel room and to the project site the next morning
Millard was never able to make it back to the hotel room which was located at a two-minute walk from the bar. Josh, his working client, had stayed back at the pub and reported that Millard left on foot at around 11.30 pm towards the hotel.
But, Millard didn't show up when they were supposed to meet at the location the following morning at 8 am. By 9 am, the client had gone to the police and asked them to perform welfare check on Millard. "He didn't seem to have spent the night there," the hotel staff informed the police. According to Millard's wife Amber, his credit card was still being used after he vanished until she was able to freeze it.
Phone wallet wee discovered
Millard's phone was discovered four blocks away from the hotel, but his ID was missing, according to Kristen Harvey, search coordinator with Texas EquuSearch, a nonprofit volunteer search and rescue organization that was helping to find Millard. Eventually, his wallet was also discovered, but his debit and credit cards were missing.
The location where Millard's body was located is about a seven-minute drive from Happy's, FOX News reported. Nathan and Amber had been married for 9 years. He is survived by his wife, four teenage sons and a 7-year-old daughter.
