The Capitol riots on January 6 continue to be a topic of discussion to date and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, after strongly condemning the act, was at the receiving end on Twitter after her previous comments praising the 2011 storming of the Wisconsin State Capitol came to light. Her comments resurfaced after she had gone on record lauding the storming by unionists as an "impressive show of democracy in action." Soon after the Capitol riots, Pelosi was vocal in her thoughts and was central in introducing former President Donald Trump's second impeachment in the House for inciting insurrection. To quickly recap, unionists stormed the Wisconsin State Capitol in 2011 in their efforts to block a vote on the collective bargaining reform. Demonstrators, who were numbered to be in thousands, managed to break into the building by shattering the windows and bringing down doors. The attack though earned praise from Pelosi along with other Democrats at the time. "@WeGotEd @thelastword I stand with the students & workers of #WI, an impressive show of democracy in action #solidarityWI," her tweet read.

And now, the House Speaker is under fire for her words. "This is Nancy Pelosi 10yrs ago when protestors stormed & violently took over and squatted in the Wisconsin State Capital. My how things change! Hypocrite! #DemocratHypocrisy," read one of the tweets. "Hypocrite" was the common term. Another tweet read: "Flashback: Nancy Pelosi praised unionists storming Wisconsin State Capitol-Hypocrite Nancy! Impeach Pelosi!"

"#FailingNYTimes it’s too little too late for that phony hypocrite... his future will be decided by the Recall Election. The Family ties of #Moonbeam #JerryBrown & @NancyPelosi with Newsom won’t save him #RecallNewsom #RecallGavin2020 #RecallGavinNewsom," one of the comments read. Pro-Trump supporters wasted no time in taking on Pelosi on Twitter. "You democrats just can’t admit that Trumps policies work. He showed you what can be done in 4 years what you haven’t been able to do in 50. #Hypocrites@JoeBiden @VP @SpeakerPelosi @SenSchumer #voteredtosaveamerica #MAGA"

"Are you ignorant? Did you even read the article ? They were senators hiding and fearing for their life in 2011 and she said it was great what the people did. Hypocrite! Same thing she’s opposing now! If you can read, look here," wrote one of the people.

In the final days of Trump's presidency, Pelosi also faced a backlash from Trump's longtime ally Lindsey Graham. Speaking to Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures, Graham said, "To see people come and take over the Capitol - the House and the Senate - beat officers, defile the seat of government - how in the hell could that happen?" He also said:  "Where was Nancy Pelosi? It's her job to provide Capitol security. We'll get to the bottom of that".

Last week, USA Today reported Pelosi said she would send the Senate an article of impeachment charging former President Donald Trump with inciting an insurrection "soon. “I’m not going to be telling you when it is going," Pelosi told reporters Thursday, while negotiations continued over a trial. “The other questions are about how a trial would proceed. We are ready."
