Thursday night's (October 7) episode of 'Catfish' saw Dianela Paola looking for her virtual boyfriend Jose. She crossed paths with him during a session of videogame and the banter that they shared helped them form an instant connection. They exchanged numbers and stayed in touch ever since and eventually love blossomed between the two and they continued their romance virtually over a period of four years.

In all these years, they'd just spoken on the phone, never video called and never met each other in person. Both were from Venezuela, located at a 10-hour distance from each other. They decided to meet each other and Dianela even got on a bus to go meet her man. However, he stood her up and she had to return. She didn't even get a proper apology from Jose but instead was hit with a devastating news. He told her that he stood her up because he already had a girlfriend and that things won't work between them.

Shortly after being stood up, Dianela once again started to interact with him and continued to bond over their shared interests including moving to the US for a better life. He was the first to move and then she flew in along with her dad and once again tried to set up a meeting with Jose. Once again, he didn't honor her efforts and the meeting never happened and Dianela moved on with her life.

Two months later he reappeared and wished to reconnect but she was too busy with the immigration process and didn't revert. Once settled, Dianela had time to think through and knew she had feelings for Jose but this time she was not going to be heartbroken. She decided to enlist the help of 'Catfish' host Nev Schulman and Kamie Crawford to determine if pursuing a relationship with Jose was going to be the right decision for her.

At the end of the investigation, Nev and Kamie found out that Dianela's virtual boyfriend was not who he was claiming to be. This was a man named Rey who indeed was from Venezuela and had moved to the US, but he was using someone else's identity online. When asked about the reason for doing so, he said it isn't safe to reveal one's cards right away, especially in his home country. He did grow to trust Dianela over a period of time but he couldn't reveal his true identity fearing she wouldn't understand his reasons.

She and the hosts did give him an earful for putting Dianela in danger by encouraging her to get on a bus to a new town. He apologized to her and said that he really loves her and Dianela fell for it and gave him another chance at the end of the episode. However, in the follow-up call that the hosts made to her to know how it was going with Rey, she revealed that he blocked her and that they're no longer in touch but this time she wasn't moping and had moved on in her life.

'Catfish' airs on Thursdays at 8 pm ET on MTV.
