Spoilers for 'Money Heist' Part 5 Volume 1

Money Heist’ is back and the gang is ready for an all-out war with the Spanish government. The previous four seasons have been splendid and fans will be hoping for a riveting final season. The show primarily focuses on how the Professor uses his brains to conduct a heist via his teammates.

Up until the final of Season 4, the group was working according to ‘The Paris Plan’.

Everything went smooth according to the Professor, but what will happen after that? Well, Professor has an answer for everything. I mean, almost everything. In the first episode of ‘Money Heist’ Part 5 Volume 1, we go into a flashback scene and see Professor making love with his beautiful partner Lisbon. This is when she asks what happens after Plan Paris? To which Professor replies that as soon as Plan Paris is successful they will activate Plan Rome.

For the uninitiated, Plan Paris was an escape plan made by the Professor in case one of their group members gets caught during the heist at the Royal Bank of Spain. Like, we saw in Season 4 that Lisbon was captured by the police and was ready to be taken to court. But she delayed her trial to the Supreme Court and another team was ready to help her get away.

On the other hand, Plan Rome is a lot more dangerous than any other previous plan. As soon as the Professor tells Lisbon about it, she feels that Professor will be taking her for a vacation to Rome. However, that’s not the plan. He meant ‘Plan Rome’ as a reference to the burning of Rome during the reign of Nero. The Professor reveals that it will be really “humiliating” for the authorities if Lisbon was able to get free from the captivity of the government.

As per Professor, the govt. will do anything and everything to destroy the group and will resort to using maximum force. Well, he meant that the military will soon join the action. And this is exactly what happens when Lisbon reaches the bank. Col. Luis Tamayo (Fernando Cayo) orders the military to come and solve the matter. Everyone in the room tries to stop him because it is a civil matter and it is the police who should be doing everything. However, Tamayo believes that it is a matter of national security and brings in the military.

Professor knew that once the military is in, the heist will automatically become more dangerous because they will be thirsty for blood and the killing of hostages won’t matter that much anymore. So, their only chance to successfully finish the heist will be to extract the gold the group has managed to melt up until that moment.

In the present day, Lisbon does the same and orders the team that they should connect the pump and begin the extraction of the 59 tons of gold that has already been melted. Tokyo has some reservations about the change of plans, but she doesn’t know what exactly Professor wanted.

Up until that scene, everything is going as per the plan, but soon, everything changes when they get to know that Professor has been captured by the lone ranger, Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri). In one of the scenes, the group gets to know that government doesn’t have Professor and Alicia has gone rogue and decided to work alone in order to get revenge.

It’ll be interesting to see if ‘Plan Rome’ goes exactly how the Professor even when he’s unable to break the shackles of the chains that he has been tied to. Will the team be able to gather itself and work? Is Lisbon the new leader of the group? Well, we would have to wait and watch upcoming seasons to get an answer for that.

‘Money Heist’ Part 5 Volume 1 is currently streaming on Netflix.
