Yankees vs Phillies: Angel Hernandez makes another 'bulls**t' call, fans call him 'worst umpire in history'
Angel Hernandez has been known for making some infamous calls throughout his umpiring career and it didn't seem to end on Wednesday, August 5, when he managed to successfully tick off Yankees' third-base coach Phil Nevin. Nevin was ejected during the first half of the game after he vocally argued for a called third strike on Mike Ford, the Yankees' first baseman.
"That's f**king bullsh*t," Nevin could reportedly be heard screaming at the home-plate umpire. "And you f**king know it." Thanks to the absence of a crowd, Nevin could be heard clearly, according to the New York Post. And he wasn't the only one angry as Twitterati also got onboard roasting Hernandez for the decision.
"I see Angel Hernandez is still being his usual self," a fan wrote.

And that was just the start of the landslide of comments. One of the fans tweeted: "Angel Hernandez isn’t working the nightcap. He shouldn’t work another MLB game for the rest of his life."

"Major League Baseball @MLB for the love of god review tapes of Angel Hernandez calling balls and strikes. Conceivably the worst umpire in the history of the game, how you guys don’t have checks and balances to control an umpire who wants to be the center of attention is beyond me," read one of the tweets against the umpire.

It also should be mentioned here that this was the second time Nevin was evicted from the game as a third-base coach. It happened once in 2018 in Boston and to add to it, he was ejected 12 times as a player. Hernandez has had his share of criticism as well with a series of bad calls while umpiring. Chipper Jones, one of the greats to have played the game, slammed him in 2013 in a tweet that read: "I will not watch a game, any game, officiated by Angel Hernandez! His incompetence amazes me and I’m tired of MLB not doing squat about it!"
Here's an expletive-filled one from a rather vexed fan: "I think the only thing everyone in baseball twitter can agree on is that Angel Hernandez is a sh*t tier umpire that should be sent out of the Milky Way galaxy on a f*king rocket."

And another that's just hilarious. But the concern is understandable: "If you want to bring temporary peace amongst all baseball fans just mention Angel Hernandez. You’ll never see people come together quicker."
