After reportedly using Islamophobic and anti-Semitic tropes as well as touting baseless and thoroughly debunked QAnon conspiracy theories, Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was slammed by the Senate leader of her own party, Mitch McConnell, on Monday, February 1, who rebuked her "loony lies and conspiracy theories" calling them a "cancer" for the GOP.

"Loony lies and conspiracy theories are cancer for the Republican Party and our country," McConnell said in a statement. "Somebody who's suggested that perhaps no airplane hit the Pentagon on 9/11, that horrifying school shootings were pre-staged, and that the Clintons crashed JFK Jr.'s airplane is not living in reality. This has nothing to do with the challenges facing American families or the robust debates on substance that can strengthen our party."

Despite the fact that McConnell did not mention Greene by name, it was more than clear as to whom he meant. If anyone still had any doubts in their minds, Greene cleared it up by tweeting, "The real cancer for the Republican Party is weak Republicans who only know how to lose gracefully. This is why we are losing our country."

Soon enough, people on Twitter started reacting to McConnell's words with many liberal social media users surprised to discover themselves agreeing with the Senate minority leader. "The Power is slipping away! Panic is setting!" one of them wrote while another said, "Too little, too late Mitch." A third remarked, "In healthcare- we cut cancers out." One more quipped, "Actions, not just words."

A user added, "Damn it I don’t like agreeing with McConnell," while another said, "Oh Mitch, if she’s the cancer than you are the chain smoker that caused it."

Another commented, "Yep. The party is in shambles." A user tweeted, "I always thought of Mitch as more of a proctologist but clearly he has some oncology training. Good diagnosis Dr Mitch!" One more said, "Well, I’ll always remember where I was the moment Mitch McConnell decided cancer was bad." A user added, "Donations must be drying up." Another said, "Marjorie gets a full-throated smackdown from the upper chamber. The gauntlet has been thrown."

We had previously reported that Greene said that she had a "great" call with former President Donald Trump on January 30 after calls for her removal from the House grew following the resurfacing of her past social media activity where she endorsed the execution of Democrats. "I had a GREAT call with my all time favorite POTUS, President Trump!" Greene wrote in a series of tweets.

"I’m so grateful for his support and more importantly the people of this country are absolutely 100% loyal to him because he is 100% loyal to the people and America First." Another tweet read, "You can never beat him because We The People have his back. The blood thirsty media and the socialists hate America Democrats are attacking me now just like they always attack President Trump."

On Monday, February 1, it was reported that Greene plans to meet with Trump at his Palm Beach estate in Florida “soon” and that the two have been talking to each other more frequently. In an interview with conservative outlet One America News (OAN), Greene said the former POTUS has been “doing really well” since his exit from the White House late last month.

“I'm excited to go visit him soon and continue to give him a call and talk to him frequently. Great news is, he supports me 100 percent, and I've always supported him,” she said, according to Politico. “President Trump is always here for the people, and he's not going anywhere. So I look forward to, to joining him and what his future plans may be."
