Mindy Nelson Kiepe: Iowa woman, 43, MAULED TO DEATH by her 5 Great Danes in horrific dog attack
ROSSIE, IOWA: A woman in northwest Iowa was killed by her five Great Dane dogs, according to local authorities. The body of Mindy Nelson Kiepe, 43, was discovered lying in a ditch near Rossie in Clay County and the attack reportedly took place on August 15. A man initially came across her corpse but he assumed she was involved in a motorcycle accident, reported KTIV-TV. Tragically, the man was unable to get close to Kiepe's body because the large dogs were still roaming nearby, added the outlet. When officers arrived at the scene near the intersection of 450th Street and 200th Avenue, Iowa, they found the woman had sustained multiple dog bites.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and was identified later by the officers. Kiepe lived on a farm a short distance away. Her body was taken to the Iowa State Medical Examiner in Ankeny for an autopsy. The state medical examiner ruled on Wednesday, August 17, that Kiepe’s death was due to multiple dog bite injuries. Investigators determined that her five Great Dane dogs caused her death. Those dogs were humanely euthanized. Great Danes are one of the largest breeds of dogs in the world. Additional details about the incident, including what may have prompted the dogs to fatally biteKiepe, have not been released.

In a GoFundMe set up by Kiepe's friend Jessica Bailey to cover funeral costs, Kiepe has been described as a “kind, caring, and loving person”. “She had the most beautiful smile. She would talk to anyone, and most definitely could make you laugh! She wasn't afraid of anything, and was always up for a challenge,” Bailey wrote. "Mindy very unexpectedly passed away on August 15th. Mindy was a great mother, grandmother, and friend. Mindy enjoyed riding her motorcycle and spending time with her family, grandson, and friends. Parker meant the world to her, as she did to him! Her loss has been extremely shattering."
People reported that in 2019, another woman was found dead inside her home after reportedly being attacked by her two Great Danes in Ohio, according to an incident report from Clearcreek Township Police Department.
The report stated that officer Wendi Blaha found the body of Mary Matthews, 49, at her home in the village of Waynesville after authorities were notified of a possible overdose. Upon arrival, Blaha was met by husband Mark Matthews and his son, Luke Matthews, who had discovered Mary lying unresponsive on the bathroom floor. Blaha then entered the home and noticed bloody steps in the garage that led into the home. Bloodstains were also found on the door frame entering the laundry room as well as a significant amount of blood on the washer and dryer, the report added.
