AUGUSTUS, GEORGIA: Vice President Mike Pence was mocked for displaying unusually high energy on Thursday, December 10, even before beginning to deliver his speech in Augustus, Georgia, as the mostly-reserved VP hit the ground running after getting off Air Force 2. He also started to clap as he ran and did so all the way up to the stage where he waved to his supporters.

The VP was stumping for the two Republicans running in Georgia’s upcoming two senate runoffs in January. The clip of an over-enthusiastic Pence who appeared to be "prancing" was uploaded by Recount and later retweeted by Vox reporter Aaron Rupar before going viral on Twitter. "I cringed so hard my face will never again be normal," Rupar wrote in the caption.

A local reporter, Scott Gustin, tweeted a meme, captioning it, "Where have I seen that before OH YES." Soon, others joined in with various other reactions. One of them wrote, "This actually explains SO much. So that’s settled." Another quipped, "Did @RandyRainbow teach him how to clap?" A third said, "OMG. Made me nauseous!"

The next tweeted, "Pence showing off his new Glee- Cheer-Track-Stadium Steps jog entrance. Also this is how all his coming out dreams begin." One more pointed out, "High knees, my dude." One commenter noted, "They all need to brandish their youthful credentials, I first noticed this with Elizabeth Warren. And perhaps it's the only exercise they ever get!!" Another remarked, "Prancing, prancing prancing..."

"Looks like he’s ready for the Crystal Light Aerobics competition," one more said, while another commented, "He only claps using one hand - the other one doesn't move. Guess it's hard to run and clap with both."

Despite federal courts tossing out dozens of voter fraud lawsuits filed by President Donald Trump's legal team, following his crushing defeat in the 2020 election, many voters in Georgia believed there were problems with the entire voting process, from poll watching to voter ID and the double-checked absentee ballot signature verification. However, Pence encouraged voters to use the same process in the fight to keep Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler in Washington, emphasizing the importance of early and absentee voting in the critical upcoming January 5 runoffs against Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock.

"You have until Dec. 31 to request and absentee ballot and I want you to be confident about your vote. Our great GOP state chair David Shafer and our senators will tell you we’re on ‘em this time. We’re watching. We’re going to secure the polls. We’re going to secure the drop boxes, so get an absentee ballot in today and vote. Don’t wait get it done," Pence said.

Moments into his speech at the 'Defend the Majority' rally, he also touted an attempt by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to overturn the November election results, including in Georgia, in favor of his boss. “(Seventeen) states have joined the Lone Star State to defend the integrity of our elections to the highest state in the land,” Pence said. “President Donald Trump deserves his day in court — the Supreme Court. And all I can say is God bless Texas.”

Prior to landing in Augusta, Pence was a part of a roundtable discussion in Greenville, South Carolina, that focused on vaccine distribution plans.
