The Mexico City Police have launched a manhunt against a cop named Gustavo Garcia, who has allegedly thrown his girlfriend from a window of her fourth-floor apartment. The Mexico City Attorney General's office has begun its investigation into the death of Nancy Peralta, a 35-year-old cop. Her boyfriend Gustavo Garcia is currently the prime suspect in the case.

A surveillance video footage that is currently doing rounds on the internet shows Peralta and Garcia getting off a motorcycle and getting into her apartment building at 10:10 pm on March 3. Later that night at 12:58 am, a surveillance camera inside the building captured Peralta's fall from her window that led to her death. The camera captured her body tumbling down from her apartment window and landing over the roof of a vehicle.

The same camera captured Garcia running down the stairs a few moments after Peralta's tragic fall. In the surveillance footage, Garcia is seen pausing to look over the railing and continuing to walk towards the building's exit. He later stopped and rubbed his in front on another person. At around 1:01 am, Garcia was captured getting on his motorcycle and speeding away, while speaking to someone over his cellphone.

Who is Gustavo Garcia?

As mentioned earlier Gustavo Garcia is a police officer, who worked as an agent for the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City. He moved in with his girlfriend Peralta in November 2000. Peralta's son- Luis Peralta informed the police that his mother was madly in love with Garcia, and that he strongly believed that his mother wouldn't have taken her own life, as some people believed.

"From the moment we were told that my mother had suffered an accident and we went to see her at the hospital, we knew that it was impossible that she had attempted suicide. She loved life, her greatest passion was her work, she had dedicated 18 years to give me the best quality of life. A few months ago she had decided to formalize a sentimental relationship with García (her alleged killer) and in this she was very excited, so there is no reason that she could have attempted against her life." Peralta's 18-year-old son wrote in a letter to the police, as reported by Daily Mail.

Perala, who also taught at the University of Criminal and Social Sciences, was immediately taken to a hospital following her fall. Unfortunately, she succumbed to the injuries caused due to her fall on March 12. Peralta's sister Patricia Romero informed the Mexican news outlet Telediario that her late sister's neighbors had heard some heated arguments in the past between her sister and Garcia. Some witnesses confirmed Romero's claims and confirmed that they heard the couple argue before she was allegedly thrown out of her window.

Since the incident, Garcia hasn't reported to duty, and the police have still not been able to locate him. Peralta's family isn't happy with the way her death's investigation is being handled by the authorities and even accused them of not setting up a perimeter to allow the detectives to investigate the crime scene immediately after her fall. Some of her relatives have even gone on to declare that the police department is intentionally acting slowly when it comes to finding Garcia, they believe that the accused officer is being protected by his family and the authorities.
