'Messiah' Episode 3: Americans are convinced that the mystery man is the 'second coming of Christ'
Islamic and Christian eschatology both talk about the second coming of Christ, albeit differently.
Netflix's new show, 'Messiah', seems to be borrowing from both as the third episode shows that the "Messiah" has landed in Texas, United States of America, just as a massive tornado hits a town in the state called Dilley — where the Igueros are.
At the start of the episode, Felix seemingly readies to set the local church just before the tornado hits. When Anna interrupts him to inform him about the tornado, both of them worry as they realize their daughter, Rebecca is missing.
Just before Felix closes the doors to the bunker his family and the rest of the town are seeking shelter, he sees a man wearing a red hoodie in the path of the tornado. But before he can figure out who it is, he has to close the door to keep everyone safe.
Later, we find out that the man in the red hoodie is the "Messiah" and he safely returns Rebecca to her parents having rescued her during the tornado. The videos of this start to go viral, much to CIA agent, Eva Geller's chagrin as the agency tries its best to bury these stories.
Now, the FBI is also on the "Messiah's" trail and arrest him as Eva flies back to Texas. However, Felix who is now convinced that this man really is the second coming of Christ (quoting Revelation 1:7), arranges an ACLU lawyer to help release him.
Meanwhile, back in Israel, when Aviram's questioning of Jibril proves useless to him, he tortures the boy to near-death and dumps him on the side of the road late at night. Aviram is still estranged from his ex-wife as he tries to spend more time with his daughter.
We also learn that the treatment Eva is taking is probably an in vitro fertilization treatment. During the episode, we see her bleeding signifying that she suffered a miscarriage.
All episodes of Season 1 of 'Messiah' are now streaming on Netflix.
