Melania Trump's former friend has revealed that the first lady laughed during her husband's 2016 campaign after the infamous 'Access Hollywood' tape came out. The infamous tape had caught Trump saying he liked to grab women "by the p****."

The first lady's former friend, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, while talking to ABC's 'Good Morning America' on Monday, August 31, said: "The day that the 'Access Hollywood' tape came out she reached out to have lunch. Now, if any other human being or any other one of my friends I would have expected to see them in tears, right? She was smiling. It was as if nothing happened." Wolkoff made an appearance at the show ahead of the release of her memoir titled 'Melania & Me' on Tuesday, September 1.

"I said to her, how many times have you heard the word P**** and president in the same sentence and we burst out laughing. Then I said are you upset and doesn't it get you angry and Melania is a pragmatist. Melania said, 'if you can't control people's emotions, then why even worry about it'. And that's how she lived her life and that is what she stood by every day," she added.

The Washington Post, just a few weeks before the 2016 election, had revealed Trump's comments to 'Access Hollywood,' which he made during a 2005 interview when the Republican and host Billy Bush were preparing to meet actress Arianne Zucker. Trump, in the controversial tapes, said that if you are famous, it lets you do anything you want with women, including "grab 'em by the p****." Trump's comments shocked the nation and triggered a number of Republicans to withdraw their endorsement of him. Trump eventually apologized for the comments and won the elections in November 2016.

Wolkoff's book recounts her friendship and work experience with Melania, including their experiences together on the presidential inauguration and in the East Wing, according to reports. The memoir also mentions the rivalry between the first lady and her stepdaughter Ivanka Trump. It also mentions of an instance when Melania described Ivanka and other family members working in the White House as a bunch of "snakes." Wolkoff said that Ivanka, after her father's election win, turned into the princess.

"Ivanka turned into the princess who wanted to be queen," Wolkoff told ABC News. The author, however, refused to confirm or deny whether she secretly recorded conversations with Melania but insisted that all the claims she made in the book can be backed up. "I'm not going to comment on whether there's audio or not. I can back up everything that's in the book 100% ... and Donald and Melania know that," she said.

Wolkoff's memoir also claimed that Melania plotted to keep Ivanka out of pictures of Trump taking the oath of office on Inauguration Day with her 'Operation Block Ivanka.' The book claims that Melania approved the seating arrangements for the inauguration platform, ensuring Ivanka would be kept out of the camera shot during the moment her father was sworn as the US president.
