Melania boasted 'I really don't care, do u?' jacket drove liberals crazy, says book: 'They deserve it, you know'
'Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady', written by her former friend Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, is set to release on September 1. The book offers a great deal of insight into Melania Trump and makes surprising revelations.
In the book, for instance, Wolkoff reportedly claims that Melania had scoffed at Michelle Obama's time in office. She had once mockingly asked if Michelle ever visited the border. According to a Daily Mail report, "She once said 'Did Michelle Obama go to the border? She never did. Show me the pictures!'" According to the book, Melania also ignored Michelle's choice to highlight American fashion designers and decided to wear whoever she wanted like Karl Lagerfeld.
The book also reportedly claims that Melania once boasted that she was "driving liberals crazy" with her infamous 'I really don't care, do u?' jacket. Melania had sparked a firestorm when she wore an infamous green jacket that said 'I really don’t care, do u?' on its back when she toured the Texas border and held children who had been separated from their parents at the border. She reportedly brushed off the backlash saying, "I'm driving liberals crazy. You know what? They deserve it". The Zara jacket was priced at $39.
In her book, Wolkoff reportedly writes that Melania said people "connect stuff to my clothes" when she wears it "because I like it". "They all went crazy about the zero-tolerance policy at the border," she had said about children being detained after crossing the US-Mexico border, at times with their families. "But they don't know what's going on. The kids I met were brought in by coyotes, the bad people who are trafficking, and that's why the kids were put in shelters. They’re not with their parents, and it's sad."
"But the patrols told me the kids say, 'Wow, I get a bed? I will have a cabinet for my clothes?' It's more than they have in their own country where they sleep on the floor. They are taking care nicely there," Melania reportedly added. While she did not wear the jacket while visiting the children, she wore it upon her return to the capital.
At the time, Donald Trump had taken to Twitter to talk about the jacket. "'I REALLY DON'T CARE, DO U?' written on the back of Melania's jacket, refers to the Fake News Media. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!"

While Melania's office didn't share any clarification, the first lady's communications director Stephanie Grisham said it was "just a jacket" and that there is apparently nothing more than that to see there. "There was no hidden message. After today's important visit to Texas, I hope this isn't what the media is going to choose to focus on."
In her book, Wolkoff reportedly rues, "I'm still here. The woman I once considered my close friend is gone."
Melania is known for her questionable fashion choices. She had also worn stilettos when boarding a flight to Texas, where she and Donald Trump were to be briefed on the devastation of Hurricane Harvey in Houston. The shoes were a tragic choice to wear since Hurricane Harvey had destroyed parts of Houston with 30 inches or more rainfall in some areas.
