Melania accused Ivanka of stealing the spotlight, not giving her respect deserving of first lady, claims book
Melania Trump was not happy with Donald Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, as she didn't give her the respect that a first lady deserves and always tried to steal the spotlight, according to a new book. Melania told former close friend Stephanie Winston Wolkoff that Ivanka behaved “like her father's most trusted confidant a la The Apprentice”. Wolkoff, once close confidant and staffer of FLOTUS, has now written a book ‘Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady’, expected to release on Tuesday, September 1, about her encounters with Melania.
On Monday, August 24, journalist Yashar Ali tweeted that Wolkoff has recordings of Melania where she “made disparaging remarks” about Trump and his children. “In her forthcoming book, Melania Trump's former friend/advisor Stephanie Wolkoff says the First Lady made disparaging remarks about the president and his adult children. Wolkoff taped some of her conversations with Mrs. Trump, sources tell me,” the tweet read.

However, an insider close to the explosive book has told DailyMail.com that most of Melania’s issues were with Ivanka. And the relationship between the two went sourer when Trump became the president in 2016. The source said, “Melania complained that Ivanka was always competing with her for his attention, as if she knew better and was more capable of being the First Lady. Melania spoke out against Ivanka's incessant need to involve herself in just about everything in the White House, even if it didn't concern her. She would always find some way to meddle, someway to make her point be heard.”
The source also said that “there’s no warmth between those two”, adding: “Melania said Ivanka has not shown her the respect a First Lady deserves and is constantly trying to steal the spotlight by overstepping her boundaries and behaving like her father's most trusted confidant a la The Apprentice. Behind Ivanka's back, Melania would often grumble to her inner circle that there's only one First Lady and that her husband was the person elected, not his entire family, referring to his kids.”
Meanwhile, Stephanie Grisham defended 50-year-old first lady after reports claimed that the book details how she insulted her step-children. Grisham said that she has never heard the mother-of-one making derogatory comments. “No. I've never heard Mrs. Trump say anything disparaging about the family. They're a close-knit family. She's talked about them many times publicly. I've heard a little bit about this book. I don't know much about it. It sounds like it's just another one of those books that unfortunately people are writing,” the first lady's chief of staff said on Tuesday, August 25.
She also stated that if Melania was taped without her consent then it was “unfortunate” that a friend of hers took advantage of her trust. “If there were any recordings taken it's really unfortunate to take advantage of somebody's trust like that while being a friend, but I don't know much about the book. We're focused on the work we're doing,” Grisham added.
