First Lady Melania Trump reportedly called President Donald Trump's eldest daughter Ivanka Trump "the Princess" while the first daughter referred to Melania as "the portrait." The pair's nicknames for each other were revealed in Melania's new biography titled 'The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump,' by Washington Post reporter Mary Jordan.

Jordan's book mentions multiple instances referring to a contentious relationship between the first lady and the first daughter who currently serves as the president's senior adviser in the White House. "Melania has been overheard referring to Ivanka as 'The Princess,'" Jordan wrote in her book, scheduled to be released on June 16. While "Ivanka called Melania 'The Portrait' because she spoke as often as one," The New York Times noted in its review of the book.

The details, however, have been denied by the White House. Deputy press secretary Judd Deere, in a statement to the Daily Mail, said: "These allegations couldn’t be further from the truth and had the Washington Post or the publishers of this book fact-checked this with Ivanka's office, they would know that. Hit pieces like these only serve to conjure non-existent palace-intrigue stories unworthy of the paper they’re printed on."

The first lady's office also commented, saying that the author did not reach out to them with a "full" list of fact-checking. Melania's chief of staff Stephanie Grisham, in a statement, said: "The stories and sources in this book are false. Neither the author nor the publisher reached out with a full list of fact-checking — conveniently leaving the most ridiculous and salacious lies out on purpose, including these. The First Lady's Office chose not to participate in this book due to the author’s dishonest tactics."

Jordan, in the 286-page book, has examined Melania Trump's life and journey. She has painted the first lady as focused, ruthless, and ambitious, a far different description of her from her public image. At one point, the author also notes that Melania and President Trump have a lot in common.

"There is ample evidence that from the very beginning, Melania not only accepted and embraced Trump’s political aspirations but was also an encouraging partner," Jordan's book states, according to a review in The Washington Post. "In her own way, she is as complex and complicated as her husband. She is also much more like him than it appears. Both are avid creators of their own history."

The book also mentions an instance when Ivanka reportedly took advantage of Melania's delayed move to Washington, DC to seize territory in the White House. Ivanka had apparently suggested that the First Lady's Office be renamed the 'First Family's Office'. 'The Art of Her Deal' revealed that the first daughter had made her move shortly after Trump was elected. Melania did not shift to the White House immediately after Trump's election and instead chose to stay in New York City until June 2017 so her son Barron could finish out the school year. It is also revealed in the biography that Melania, during this period, was also renegotiating her prenup before making a move to the White House and ensured that Barron would be treated the same as the eldest Trump children.
