Meghan McCain says media protects Ilhan Omar and 'squad' despite 'anti-Semitic' views, NOT Marjorie Taylor Greene

She said, 'They're red-pilled when they see the blatant bias in the media… The media doesn't want The Squad to look bad. They just want Marjorie Taylor Greene to look bad'

‘The View’ often sees a conflict between the other hosts and Meghan McCain, the resident conservative on the daytime talk show. McCain almost always has opinions that don’t sit well with her liberal co-hosts and on Monday, May 24, this happened again.

The talk show descended into chaos after McCain compared Marjorie Taylor Greene to Ilhan Omar. She also attacked the media for protecting 'The Squad'. Greene is a far-right conspiracy theorist serving as the US representative for Georgia's 14th congressional district and Omar is a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party who serves as the US representative for Minnesota's 5th congressional district.

'The Squad' is a group of six Democratic members of the US House of Representatives, well known for being among the most progressive and left-wing members of the United States Congress. It comprises Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jamaal Bowman of New York, Omar, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Cori Bush of Missouri.

McCain said that Greene had been stripped from two House committee assignments. This was after she liberally peddled conspiracy theories and claims that 9/11 didn’t happen and school shootings were fake and even indicated support for executing prominent Democratic politicians including Nancy Pelosi in 2018 and 2019 before being elected to Congress. In a recent interview, Greene compared Pelosi's decision to continue to require members of the House to wear masks on the chamber floor to the steps taken by the Nazis during Holocaust. Following backlash, she doubled down and insisted that “any rational Jewish person” would also oppose the “overbearing” mask mandates. She said: “We can look back at a time in history when people were told to wear a gold star, and... they were put in trains and taken to gas chambers in Nazi Germany... This is exactly the type of abuse that Nancy Pelosi is talking about.”

McCain then compared it with the fact that Omar was still on the Foreign Affairs Committee after her tweets accused Israel of having “hypnotized the world”. The tweet McCain referred to was from 2012 and it said, “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.” It came in reaction to Israel’s November 2012 operation against Hamas in Gaza.

McCain said, “She (Greene) has been stripped of her committee. She has absolutely no legislative power. Which juxtaposed when Ilhan Omar said Jewish people had hypnotized and the world and it was all about the Benjamins, she's still on the Foreign Relations Committee.”

McCain said there was “blatant bias in the media”, adding, “I would love if the energy that is being put on one crazy woman in Congress — and by the way, if she is the face of the Republicans, then the Squad is the face of the Democrats — I would love Democrats to put that same type of energy onto what's happening on the left. Because quite frankly, this is how people get red-pilled. They're red-pilled when they see the blatant bias in the media… The media doesn't want The Squad to look bad. They just want Marjorie Taylor Greene to look bad.”

As McCain began listing specific examples of alleged anti-Semitic attacks happening around the world and in the US in the wake of the Israel-Palestine conflict, host Whoopi Goldberg tried to go to a commercial break. This caused McCain to shout, “Why are you cutting me off?” to which, Goldberg yelled back, “I'm cutting you off because we have to go, Meghan. Why do you think I'm cutting you off?”

After returning from the commercial break the spat continued. Host Sunny Hostin argued that “criticizing the Israeli government and some of its tactics are not the same as being anti-Semitic”. McCain responded with, “When anti-Semitism shows itself on the right, it is easy to spot with crazy people and tiki torches. When it manifests on the left, it's a lot more insidious and a lot more sinister and a lot more difficult to define.”
