Meghan and Harry trolled for saying yes to fly-on-the-wall Netflix reality show: 'So much for privacy'
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have reportedly agreed to star in a Netflix reality series with cameras following them for three months. The Sussexes want to give people a glimpse into their lives and all the charity work they have been doing.
The announcement came after they signed a $143M (£112M) Netflix deal earlier this month to make TV series, films and children's shows for the streaming service, according to Daily Mail. Even though the 'whopping' amount for this new "reality show" deal is not revealed, we expect it to be more than the previous one.
As soon as the news of a Meghan and Harry "reality show" made its way to social media, people started making fun of the couple, as one Internet user wrote, "Just read Harry and Meghan are going to do a reality show with NetFlix. Lord have mercy." While another one already declared it as 'garbage' and said, "Will you watch this garbage? Unbelievable. @RoyalFamily you should be so proud. Meghan and Harry 'have agreed to star in Netflix reality series'."

Some said that Markle will be the 'only' limelight of the show and wrote, "How can he be a stay at home dad given the Netflix deal? I'm sure they may have something to say when they find out it's all Meghan & no Harry." While another one made fun of their "privacy" and said, "oh dear.... so much for wanting privacy......Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to appear in Netflix reality show."

Earlier this month, on their Royally Obsessed podcast, hosts and royal experts Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie discussed the $143M deal and what the Sussexes originally planned to do after their royal exit. "It must have felt kind of nice to put in writing and release that information that they haven't been receiving any money," Fiorito said, according to Express. "It confirms that they are doing this on their own and they planned for that and are going to be alright." Bowie added, "I didn't expect it to be so so quickly. Six months later, they're already wiping their hands of the Royal Family's coffers."
According to a report from The Sun, the couple didn't tell the Queen about their previous Netflix deal before the news was announced publicly, which means the royal family didn't have a chance to weigh in on it or try to block the move. "Harry did not inform the Queen about the Netflix deal," a royal source told The Sun. "Her Majesty is all too aware of the pitfalls of when senior royals embark on lucrative projects — Prince Edwards’ production flop and some of the deals Sarah Ferguson has signed over the years to name a few. Her view is simple, the Royals are not for sale and danger surrounds high profile roles outside of the institution itself. But knowing her grandson Harry as she does, the Queen will know there would have been little chance of talking Harry and Meghan out of it," he added.
