Meghan Markle trolled for fake British accent while welcoming Jameela Jamil on her 'Archetypes' podcast
MONTECITO, CALIFORNIA: Meghan Markle was mocked for reportedly trying to put on a British accent in the latest episode of her Archetypes podcast featuring actress Jameela Jamil.
The Duchess of Sussex, 41, welcomed the 'Hulk' actress, 36, to her show with a hearty "hello!" as she opened the ninth episode of 'Archetypes' on Tuesday, November 15. The two women discussed female activism in an episode that was meant to deconstruct labels that hold women back from achieving their full potential. However, Meghan's attempt at flaunting her ability to impersonate a British accent was met with some backlash.

Jamil greeted Meghan by saying, "You alright babe? Hello." The Duchess replied by saying "ello" with what appeared to be a so-called "mockney" accent before reverting back to her normal manner of speaking. However, quite a few listeners noticed the departure from her usual accent, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
"Is Meghan trying to do a British accent again?" one commented. "Now making fun of the British accent? Please Meghan, just shut up," another wrote. "She's so fake and full of herself," someone else offered. "They are both as 'artificial' as they come !!!" a comment read. "Pathetic really," another added.
Jamil didn't seem to find the gesture insulting as she joined Meghan. She hailed the Duchess as "a sobering voice" and offered her "unwavering support" in the wake of online criticism. In the episode titled 'The Audacity of the Activist', Meghan also spoke with the American-Iranian star of 'X-Men' and '24', Shohreh Aghdashloo, 70. She said her confidante was the reason why she did not stop campaigning for "women and girls" after joining the royal family.
A powerful conversation with actress @SAghdashloo about the protests for social freedom and change in Iran on #Archetypes. Meghan and her guests discussed the reasons why activism and "big ideas" from women were "often deemed audacious" and used against them to make them "feel small." The Duchess also claimed that women received "no credit and all the blame" for their actions. She then applauded her actress pal for "fighting back" for her after she had been "demonized" since she began her relationship with Prince Harry.
Jamil gushed about how Meghan privately reached out to women "in our most lonely and desperate moments." She continued, "It's just it's an unfathomable amount of s*** that you take Meghan. I can't believe it. And I fought back on your behalf for years before I'd ever met you because I was so outraged by the twisting of this, very normal, very kind, very civilized woman. That demonization just shows how afraid they are of you." She added, "I'm so sorry you've had to withstand it. I feel faith that tides are changing because so many of us are fighting back." Meghan responded, "Well thank you for fighting back."
Jamil recalled feeling suicidal following criticism of her words or actions and thanked Meghan for contacting her and other women in the public eye. "I also just want to thank you, in a way that you know I probably didn't get to at the time, but during some of my hardest moments where I'm being the most maligned and harmed by the media, and also by the public," she said. "You have been such a sobering voice of unwavering support to me. And people don't know that you frequently reach out to women who are having a very very hard time," the actress added.
