The opening of 'Masters of the Air' Episode 7 captures the daily routines of Buck, Bucky, and fellow prisoners of war as they navigate life in Stalag Luft III.

At Thorpe Abbotts, Major Robert ‘Rosie’ Rosenthal (Nate Mann) takes on the responsibility of training the recruits and guiding them through the rigorous and demanding process of becoming skilled bomber crew members.

It is revealed that the quota for the number of missions that pilots and their crews must complete has been increased from 25 to 30.

As the episode unfolds, Rosie prepares himself and his crew for a critical bombing mission over Berlin, Germany. While the crew members successfully hit their targets, the mission takes a toll with heavy losses and brutal injuries.

The Mustang fighter planes skillfully keep the Nazis away from the B-17 bombers as they make their way to Berlin.

The bomber crews maintain focus on their mission as the B-17s drop their bombs over Berlin, facing intense anti-aircraft fire and the persistent threat of enemy fighters.

Lt. Robert Shoens unhappy with a change in plan

Despite the success of their mission over Berlin, the crew grapples with the harsh reality that their mission quota has been elevated to 30

As the episode progresses, Major Jack Kidd (Edward Ashley) informs Rosie that he is allowed to go home, having completed 25 missions. However, the quota being raised to 30 missions means that he cannot return home.

The recruits and those who have not yet completed 25 missions are required to stay and complete a total of 30 bombing missions. The change in plan angers Lt Robert Shoens (Elan Butler), who has likely been anticipating completing his 25 missions and returning home.

He reprimands Kidd expressing his concern that they are being assigned missions without due consideration for their safety and a second thought.

Rosie requests Lt. Col. John Bennett (Corin Silva) to reenlist him instead of sending him home because he cannot simply sit back and relax while his fellow airmen are risking their lives in combat.

‘Masters of the Air’ Episodes 1-7 are now streaming on Apple TV+
