Christopher Keeley: Hunt on for man accused of fatally stabbing elderly couple in 'targeted' attack
MARSHFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS: A massive manhunt is underway in Boston after an elderly couple was stabbed and bludgeoned to death in their home in what appears to be a targeted attack. According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, officers found the couple's bodies during a welfare check at their Massachusetts home with 'obvious signs of trauma." "Both victims had been stabbed and bludgeoned to death," Cruz said during a press briefing Wednesday morning, November 30.
The victims were identified as Carl Mattson and Vicki Mattson, both 70. The wife would have turned 71 on Wednesday, November 30, while it is still unclear when they were killed, the official added. Investigators have targeted a suspect named Christopher Keeley, 27, who is believed to have been acquainted with the couple, Cruz said. Police are trying to determine the motive for the killings. "This does not appear to be a random act of violence. It appears to be a targeted attack," Cruz continued. "We not sure how long he's been gone."

According to court documents, the victims were found right in their homes with traces of a struggle, including an overturned bookshelf. It's likely the couple was assaulted last week. A friend of Keeley's asked police to check the house and told them Keeley had been living with the couple as a favor to a family member but had recently been asked to leave, CBS Boston reports. The documents state that Keeley told a friend that an argument over a barking dog led to the attack. Keeley had been acting "psychotic" lately, telling the friend that he felt the urge to hurt people, including the couple he lived with, and that he was known to carry knives. According to the documents, Keeley was angry and afraid of becoming homeless after a woman who had considered letting Keeley stay with her in Weymouth kicked him out.
