In less than two weeks, Donald Trump will need to step down from his position of four years as president-elect Joe Biden will be sworn in. Despite the latter’s win being certified by the members of Congress in the U.S Capitol on January 6, many including POTUS’s niece Mary Trump are urging for him to be removed from power immediately.

Mary, who expressed that she was “shocked” to see what took place at the U.S Capitol, told The Guardian, “What struck me first was how degrading it was. That amount of desecration. The tawdriness of it. Tawdriness is who Donald is, but playing out in the halls of Congress.”

She blamed her uncle for “enabling” the rioters. “It was the last four years in real-time, distilled to its very essence, proving how much the very worst people among us have been so enabled and emboldened. It hit me later that the next people in line for the presidency were in the same room, and how unfathomably dangerous that was,” she added.

Warning against Trump’s irrationality, Mary said one needs to act quickly and the 25th Amendment should be invoked. “This is not a time to deliberate. It’s time to act quickly," Mary added before stating that the Cabinet members were resigning because they “cared about what happened on Wednesday.”

She has expressed that if the Republicans don’t vote collectively to convict him, “ they will own this disaster forever. It will burn them down.” And her warnings aren’t just limited to the Trump administration. Mary noted that Biden’s administration would be met with a similar fate or “will be tainted” if they don’t act at the earliest.

It isn’t only her uncle who she thinks poses a threat to the nation. Mary believes every single rioter involved in storming the Capitol must be punished as they threatened the very foundation of the democracy.

She said, “Every person that stormed – or should I say, strolled, and meandered, with impunity, arrogance and disdain – into the Capitol needs to be arrested, indicted, convicted and given serious sentences. They desecrated the foundations of our democracy.”

However, it’s Trump’s instability that needs to be prioritized according to his niece to ensure a smooth transition and to avoid more chaos, which is bound to ensue during Biden’s inauguration, according to experts.

Mary expressed, “Remember: this is the man who tried to invalidate mail-in ballots in the middle of a pandemic. This is the man who forced resignations of high-level officers in the Pentagon, replacing them with sycophants. This is why, for six hours on Wednesday, the Pentagon blocked the National Guard from containing an insurrectionist mob. Our system failed miserably because this man’s been allowed to dismantle every institution this country counts on.”

She concluded by saying how one shouldn’t take Trump for granted as “he’s capable of doing anything." “In less than two weeks, he won’t have the Oval Office to protect him from lawsuits, bankruptcies and criminal indictments. I don’t know what he’s going to do.”
