Who is Morgan Carey? Mariah Carey's estranged brother who is suing her for defamation once called her 'evil bitch'
Morgan Carey, the estranged elder brother of Mariah Carey has now filed a defamation suit against the singer for falsely accusing him of violence in her tell-all memoir 'The Meaning of Mariah Carey'.
The book, published in September 2020, mentions a violent fight between Morgan and their father, as well as hints at instances when Mariah reportedly protected their mother from Morgan.
An excerpt from the book reads, "It took twelve cops to pull my brother and father apart. The big bodies of men, all entangled like a swirling hurricane, crashed loudly into the living room. I was a little girl with very few memories of a big brother who protected me. More often, I felt I had to protect myself from him, and sometimes I would find myself protecting my mother from him too." The alleged passage prompted Morgan to challenge her claims and file the lawsuit.

Who is Morgan Carey?
Born on August 6, 1960, Morgan Carey is the son of Patricia and Alfred Carey and also an elder brother to musical legend Mariah Carey. He presently works as an entrepreneur and founder of the agricultural initiative 'Victorious Green'. Alongside, he has also worked as a record producer, model, and fitness trainer.
Presently, the 60-year-old resides in Florence, Italy with his wife Ilaria Negrini Carey, as per MCarchives. He is a sincere follower of a sustainable lifestyle and is passionate about Tai Chi.
Morgan is nine years older than Mariah, who was born in 1969. He grew up at the Carey household in Huntington, New York, with his parents and siblings Mariah and Alison. He was born with cerebral palsy which led him to suffer from grand mal and petit mal seizures in his childhood.
At the age of eight, Morgan was reportedly traumatized seeing his father returning from a hunting trip with a trophy deer strapped to the family's station wagon. It triggered him so much that he vowed to never eat meat again and turned a vegetarian. When he was 13, his parents got divorced after enduring years of racial discrimination for being a mixed-race couple.
In fact, Morgan grew up bearing witness to horrifying racist incidents like neighbors poisoning their pet dog or shooting through their windows, according to reports.
In the early 1980s, Morgan took up modeling and worked with famous photographer Leonardo Maniscalchi. By the time Mariah Carey debuted her music career in 1990, Morgan was already a known name in the modeling circuit and a celebrated fitness trainer in Los Angeles. He later switched careers to become a music producer and signed artistes like QUO, Lil Rachett and Korean Reggae artiste Skull.
Morgan's relationship with Mariah
In the last few years, Morgan shared a sour relationship with his younger sister Mariah, to the extent where he publicly shamed and abused her, while the latter vilified him in her memoir. Their fallout happened around 2014 when Morgan warned Mariah against marrying her ex-husband Nick Cannon.
In 2016, Morgan spoke to The Sun and lashed out at Maria for not supporting her family in their time of need. He branded her as "heartless" and an "evil bitch" for refusing to pay for the treatment of their HIV-positive sister Alison Carey, who was a former prostitute. At that time, Alison was in a dying condition needing brain and spine surgery for which Mariah reportedly refused to pay.
Morgan told the media at the time that Mariah believes "the world revolves around her". "Your sister is dying and she's struggling and where are you? You think you are so fabulous, but you are a witch," he had allegedly remarked furiously, adding that he made time to fly from Italy and stay by Alison's side while she was fighting a battle between life and death.
"She (Mariah) probably spends more on dog food than it would cost to make sure her sister gets properly cared for," Morgan added brutally. He also predicted that Mariah's lifestyle of heavy drinking and depression will lead her to suffer a tragic end like Whitney Houston, according to reports.
"'She does not have a support system, and she is not mentally capable," he allegedly said.
