'Manifest' Season 2 Episode 4: TJ could be Olive's love interest, Church of Believers to play a key role
In this week's episode of 'Manifest', TJ gets another calling. When he goes to speak to Ben about it, he meets Olive. However, in flashbacks shown, we learn that this isn't the first time the two have met.
Back in Jamaica, when Ben and Cal decide to board Flight 828, Olive also momentarily considered going with them. But this was because of the then 10-and-a-half-year old's interest in TJ, with whom she talks about books. With just one ticket left, however, TJ books the flight and Olive stays behind with her mother.
Back in the present, Olive pretends not to recognize TJ. When TJ speaks about his calling to Ben, it is Olive who solves what it means to them. From there, we see Olive working with Ben and TJ to decipher the calling.
This might be a welcome move for Olive who has been feeling quite left out after mother also started getting callings through her unborn child, which was confirmed to be Ben's. Olive then joined the Church of Believers, which was started by Adrian, one of the passengers on Flight 828.
At the end of this week's episode, Olive tells TJ that the way to combat the death day calling is to think about it from a place of hope and not fear as her father has been doing. To explain herself, she takes TJ to the next Church of Believers meeting.
In an interview with MEAWW, Luna Blaise had teased an "intense" love interest for her character Olive, and after this week's episode, it is clear that TJ will be the one to fill that role. Sparks certainly flew between them in the episode, however, we wonder whether Ben might be okay with this.
Will TJ and Olive bond through their experience at the Church of Believers, or will he, like Ben, suspect Adrian of something nefarious and work undercover as Ben's mole? If he does so, this will surely upset Olive.
'Manifest' airs on NBC on Monday nights.
