'Manifest': Jack Messina understands Cal's urge to fit in despite his illness and the 'callings'

Cal has been called the Holy Grail of the show, but Jack Messina sees his character in a very different light
UPDATED FEB 2, 2019

Jack Messina's Cal holds an extremely important place in the Jeff Rake-created show. Starring alongside Josh Dallas as his father Ben Stone, Athena Karkanis as his mother, Grace, Luna Blaise as his twin sister Olive Stone, and Melissa Roxburgh as his aunt Michaela Stone, Cal has been considered to be the Holy Grail that the Major (played by Elizabeth Marvel) is looking for.

Cal was one of the passengers on the Montego Air Flight 828 which went missing for almost five and a half years. When the flight did arrive, the passengers were however changed: they hadn't aged a day and now they were hearing strange voices in their head which they took to interpret as "Callings". Over the course of the show, we came to know that it was, in fact, Cal who had first received the "Callings", and he had managed to develop clairsensitive powers that help him predict the future and read other people's minds. In an exclusive email conversation with MEAWW, Jack Messina spoke about his character.
