Manhattan art dealer claims he was brutally attacked by a 'F*** Trump' chanting mob of teenagers for wearing a MAGA hat

The NYPD confirmed the attack on Turan, but in their report they made no mention of him wearing a MAGA hat at the time of the attack
UPDATED AUG 2, 2019

An art shop proprietor in southern Manhattan was reportedly brutally beaten by a group of violent teenagers for wearing a MAGA hat.

42-year-old Jahangir 'Johnny Woo' Turan was attacked shortly before 7 pm on Tuesday evening as he walking along Canal Street, Daily Mail reports.

He told reporters he had purchased the hat earlier in the day from Trump Tower and was wearing it at the time of the assault. According to him, a group of 15 to 18 teenagers did not approve of the hat before one girl in the group flicked it off his head.

When Turan bent down to pick it up, the rest of the group "started pounding on him", knocked him to the ground, and stomped all over him. The proprietor, who owns David Parker Art Gallery, said one of them subsequently grabbed his head and smashed it against a pole.

The purported attackers were allegedly chanting "F*** Trump" and other "anti-Trump stuff" throughout the ordeal, per the art dealer.

"One girl flipped my hat, and then within five, eight seconds, I got pushed from the back and my face hit the scaffolding pole," Turan told a press conference.

Turan sustained a fractured cheekbone and a severely bruised and swollen eye as a result of the brutal assault, following which he crossed the street and immediately alerted the authorities.

According to the victim, responding officers found the group still making anti-Trump remarks when they arrived but took no notice of the same.

"[It's] kind of ridiculous, to get beat up like this for wearing a hat," he continued. "I wanted to put it on my TV stand. I had no intentions of wearing it in New York City, because it’s dangerous to wear a hat like this in New York City."

While the attack lasted only a few seconds, Turan said the ordeal was "upsetting", and that he "felt sad" because he believes the "president is trying to do a good job and society doesn’t understand."

"I love Trump," he said. "I think he's doing a great job."

The NYPD later confirmed the attack on Turan, but in their report they made no mention of him wearing a MAGA hat at the time of the attack, neither did they write about the teenagers shouting anti-Trump slogans.

That said, Turan is now waiting to hear from his doctor whether he suffered any permanent damage to his retina.
