Singer-turned-actress Mandy Moore has broken her silence on social media after a publication allegedly forced her to open up about a past abusive relationship in an interview. The ‘This is Us’ star posted a screenshot in one of her Instagram stories and slammed a publication after revealing that she received an email from an unnamed journalist who wanted to interview her.

However, the journalist decided to cancel the interview with the actress after she declined to talk about her previous relationship and said it “may be best to put this one on pause for some time". The reply made her furious and she decided to tell the world how media outlets can do anything for click-bait articles, even if that completely ruins the image of the interviewee. The journalist reportedly wrote: “If Mandy doesn’t want to talk about this though we have to respect that and it would be wrong for us to proceed with the interview.” In the post, Mandy said "my blood is still boiling".

In a statement posted on her official Instagram profile, Mandy responded to the journalist and slammed the publication that asked her to “relive trauma” for a headline.

She wrote: “When they (the publication) were told that I had spoken plenty about a certain subject in my life and would have no further comment (truly there are countless interviews they could pull from, that story is over and there’s nothing more to say). Any comment I make about said experience becomes clickbait and gives them the energy and time they seek and have already stolen from too many for too long.”

The actress also made it clear that she has no time for the interviews that forces her to “relive that trauma publicly". The journalist allegedly forced her to talk about her marriage and abusive relationship with ex-husband Ryan Adams. The musicians called it quits in 2015, just two months before what would have been their sixth anniversary. However, in 2019, she finally came forward to talk about his abusive behavior during their relationship and marriage.

The couple reportedly started dating in 2007. However, the ‘To Be Without You’ hitmaker quashed all the rumors and said that she was single. The couple stunned the entire world when they revealed that they tied the knot in Savannah, Georgia, in 2009. In September 2014, Adams refused to talk about Mandy and her marriage during an interview with an Australian radio show. Just three months after the interview, the duo announced that they are separating and requested privacy from the media.

In 2018, Moore opened up about her marriage in an interview and revealed that her marriage was “dark, heavy and lonely". At the time, she said, “There was no room for me. There was no room for me to have anything else in my life. We make ourselves feel so small to make other people comfortable. I think I did that for so long because I was scared of ruffling feathers. I just didn’t want to cause trouble. I felt like somebody else was more important.” However, things escalated in 2019 when The New York Times came out with a story in which seven women, including Mandy, accused Adam of being “psychologically abusive”.

In the interview, she said: “Music was a point of control for him. He would always tell me, ‘You’re not a real musician because you don’t play an instrument.’ His controlling behavior essentially did block my ability to make new connections in the industry during a very pivotal and potentially lucrative time — my entire mid-to-late 20s.”

Adam vehemently denied all the accusations that were leveled against him. The New York Times story and a bunch of others forced Adams to issue an apology to Mandy and all the women he has mistreated throughout his career. He said: “There are no words to express how bad I feel about the ways I’ve mistreated people throughout my life and career. All I can say is that I’m sorry. It’s that simple.” Since then, she has not been talking much about her relationship with Adams. She believes that Adams was the past and she doesn’t want her future to be just about that one particular relationship.

Moore is now married to guitarist Taylor Goldsmith and the couple is expecting a baby.
