Moberly Police Department arrested Shawn K. McCormick after he tried to enact an armed robbery while sporting a pair of underpants on his head (Moberly Police Department)

A Missouri man's attempt to disguise himself by sporting a pair of underpants over his head yielded no good results, because not only was he found out, he has become a laughing stock online. 26-year-old Shawn McCormick was arrested by the Moberly Police Department a few days after the robbery, which took place on December 7 around 6 pm.

According to the cops, McCormick entered Bratcher’s Fuel station and pointed the rifle he was carrying at the clerk on shift and robbed the business. The Moberly police department took to Facebook to seek the help of citizens in identifying the criminal, and although they did not mention the underpants on the guy's head in their post, the people who commented were sure to point out the interesting choice of disguise.

The post read, "The suspect is described as a white male, mid 20’s, average height, wearing gray clothing on his head with eye holes, dark-colored “Real Tree” hoodie, jeans, and black Nike tennis shoes.

The suspect left the scene in an unknown color mid-2000’s possibly Chevrolet Impala body style vehicle," and while thankfully the helpful responders outnumbered those who chose to take a shot at McCormick, some of the comments mocking him could be listed as comedy gold.

One such example is, "Looks like he robbed Granny’s panty drawer first, let’s just hope they weren’t from the dirty clothes hamper......" Another read, "Has anyone checked the urgent care places for cases of pink eye from the weekend?"

Fortunately, McCormick was identified and arrested by the department on December 10. Announcing the news of his arrest, the Moberly Police Department wrote, "In regards to the past weekend robbery at Bratcher’s Fuel, the Moberly Police Department would like to say thank you to this great community we are fortunate to serve. The tremendous amount of information sharing and tips received are a testament to how well this community works together in a time of need. Detectives with the Moberly Police Department were able to identify 26-year-old Shawn K. McCormick as the suspect who committed the robbery. McCormick has since been arrested and charges have been formally filed with the Randolph County courts."
