Man throws wife off ferry after hearing 'whispers', family claims he's mentally unstable

JAKARTA, INDONESIA: In a shocking video coming from Indonesia, a husband threw his wife off a ferry and showed no emotions before others rushed to help her. As per local reports, the ferry was going through the Sunda Strait when a man suddenly picked up his wife and carried her to the edge. Fortunately, the woman managed to cling to the vessel before she was rescued. The shocking clip released from the CCTV of the ferry dates February 23, 2023, and was released by the authorities the next day.

It’s been said that the man was going through extreme emotional turmoil and he heard ‘whispers’ that told him to carry the act. "The perpetrator was suspected to be depressed because his reason was that he wanted to throw the victim into the sea, he heard a voice telling him to do that," said Ridho Rafika, head of the Bakauheni Port Police Sector.

'Thank God his wife is safe'

South Lampung Police Chief, known as AKBP Edwin, also reacted to the story, "Thank God his wife is safe." According to reports, the incident is investigated by South Lampung Police only. As per his family, he has been going through psychiatric treatment lately, and it is not clear if he has been arrested or not after alleging he heard voices telling him to try and throw his wife, reports Daily Mail.

A man threw his girlfriend over an alleged argument 

In an unrelated incident, a father of three was booked with attempted murder after trying to 'throw [his girlfriend] over the side of a cruise ship.' David James Fysh, 46, pleaded not guilty in court to the charge of attempted murder after it was alleged that he had tried to through his partner following an argument into the Tasman Sea.
