NEWS IN BRIEF: Man in underwear derails farcical CNBC segment on live TV
A morning television segment on CNBC's 'Squawk Box' was quickly derailed when it was interrupted not only by a barking dog, but also by a man in his underwear. On Monday, CNBC anchor Andrew Ross Sorkin was interviewing Aureus Asset Management CEO Karen Firestone when he was interrupted by the sound of a barking dog.
A frequent guest of the Wall Street show on the business network, Karen Firestone, 66, had a bad TV moment when her interview was cut short by her dogs' barking, and then by the funny sight of a man speed-walking in the backdrop while wearing a pair of blue boxers.

With the words "today, I think you have to root for the upside," the financial analyst attempted to put a positive spin on the market's bleak future. She began to comment on Citigroup's earnings reports and the Fed's decision to hold off on raising interest rates as much, when a chorus of howling dogs joined in, drowning her out.
Firestone claims to have two Springer Spaniels, which are recognised for having a high-strung temperament, according to her web bio. The host, Andrew Ross Sorkin, joked, "It's the dog days of summer." Co-host Joe Kernen made a pun about the stock index's "dogs of the Dow."
She muttered an apology as Sorkin persisted on pressing her to predict how the market would behave in the coming months.
Regarding her dog, Firestone remarked, "I think she's excited. She watches Squawk Box constantly and is quite enthused about the market."

However, when Firestone was responding, bringing up important points regarding the impact of inflation and a rebound for Covid on the market, a gray-haired man strolls into the background of Firestone's Brookline, Massachusetts home while just wearing his skivvies.
If the Harvard-educated entrepreneur saw it, she kept it to herself, and Sorkin tried to maintain his composure. The host predicted that come September, "The dog days would get a little more exciting, but not in a good manner."
The identity of the man in the underwear is still not known.

Bloopers happen frequently during live broadcast, although Firestone and the man who exposed his underwear on national television are probably not too pleased with the incident. In just one instance from 2020, NBC reporter Ken Dilanian gained notoriety after accidently using the F-bomb on live television as a result of a technical issue. Dilanian instantly expressed regret over the lapse.
