Zookeeper escaped death after being attacked by a crocodile
In September of last year, a 68-year-old zookeeper miraculously avoided death after being attacked by a vicious 16-foot crocodile at the Crocodile Creek farm in the KwaZulu Natal state of South Africa. The moment the handler's focus shifted to a second gaping crocodile, named July, the crocodile, Hannibal, launched an attack on his handler Sean Le Clus in front of a terrified audience.
On September 10, the man who looks after Hannibal, a Nile crocodile, had to crawl away from the reptile after battling to free himself from its five-inch-long jaws that dug into his leg. In order to entertain the audience, Sean performed his "party trick" by perching on Hannibal's back. He had just completed feeding July, a female crocodile. Little did he realize that July was now arrowing in his direction as he caressed him behind the head and sat on him, calling him a "good boy."
At the last second, the zookeeper aggressively wrenched his leg free of the female's jaws and repelled it with a stick as he lowered the enormous male crocodile to safety. A But as soon as he turned away from Hannibal, the 1,400-pound predator tried to whip the handler's head around with its jaws open. Several guests shouted in amazement during the potentially fatal incident at the well-known South African tourist destination.
