Gun violence continues to rock Memphis, Tennessee following the sudden and tragic death of Young Dolph. The rapper was killed while buying cookies on November 17, with the store now hosting a memorial just outside. As fans gathered to pay tribute on November 18, it was reported gunfire erupted at the scene, forcing people to flee in fear. One man was reportedly injured, albeit with non-life-threatening injuries, leading the police to arrest two on the spot, and another after a short chase.

The rapper was involved in feuds with rivals like Soulja Boy, Blac Youngsta before his death, but at the moment neither of them are being considered suspects. Photos from the scene, including some showing his body, have since begun circulating. Irrespective of whether or not you believe the rumor he predicted his death, there's no denying his passing has left a huge hole in the lives of many fans.

That's why fans have since thronged to Makeda’s Butter Cookies in Southern Memphis. The store is now cordoned off with a large police presence, while a growing memorial to the rapper has since formed. The city is now on edge, with fears of gun violence leading to police protection for the nearby restaurant owned by Yo Gotti, another rapper Dolph reportedly had a feud with. However, it seems that even though the police were armed and ready, gun violence still managed to erupt.

3 arrested after shooting mourner

ABC Memphis was at the scene on November 18, where people had gathered to pay tribute to Dolph when gunfire erupted. In the afternoon, as they were recording, a loud pop of gunfire could be heard. Immediately, people started running away, and the police swung into action. The gunfire erupted about half a mile away from the cookie store, according to police. They instantly detained two people, and a third was arrested after a short chase. The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition. 

So far, beyond confirming three were arrested, the police have not issued a detailed statement about the incident. It's unclear who the three people are, and what led to the gunfight. The Memphis PD put out this brief tweet after the shooting- "Officers are on the scene of a shooting at 2630 Airways. One male was shot and is listed as non-critical. Officers immediately detained two suspects, and a third was detained at Kerr and Mississippi after a brief pursuit. The cause of this shooting is under investigation."



 

ABC's video of the incident, which has since been shared on social media quickly went viral. More details aware awaited, and we will update you when we know more. The shot was fired moment after Memphis Police released the first photos of the suspects, based on CCTV footage. Footage shows two men exiting a white Mercedez-Benz and shooting Dolph through the window of the store. The police are now calling for anyone with information to come forward.
