Why Daunte Wright is being compared to Ashli Babbitt? MAGA fans say there 'would've been murals if she was Black'

After protests for Daunte Wright's death, MAGA supporters said that Babbitt's death was worse yet didn't stir enough outrage

Following the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Daunte Wright, MAGA trolls are now saying on social media how his death is the same as that of Ashli Babbitt during the US Capitol riots on January 6. Babbitt was killed as rioters stormed the capitol building to stop the Congress from ratifying Joe Biden's win and MAGA supporters are now claiming that her death was worse but didn't stir enough outrage because she was White. Among those comparing Babbitt's death to Wright's are staunch right-wing pundits like Matt Walsh, encouraging the narrative that Babbitt's death was less justified than Wright's.

Wright was pulled over for driving on expired tags at the Brooklyn Center. He allegedly resisted arrest and was 'accidentally' shot as he tried to flee the scene to avoid being detained for an outstanding arrest warrant. It's been revealed since his death that the cop had shouted 'Taser!' while allegedly firing their gun — something that's become a matter of outrage in the protests against Wright's death.

In an alleged cell phone video of Babbitt's death, the former Air Force pilot can be seen draped in red, white and blue as she falls to the ground amid commotion and blood comes out of her mouth. It's believed Babbitt died from gunshot fired by the Capitol police. There was outrage from MAGA supporters in the wake of her death on January 6, but Trump supporters are livid her death didn't gain the same traction as that of Wright's.

Taking it to Twitter, one user wrote "Ashli Babbitt didn't have an open warrant, and wasn't resisting arrest when she was murdered". Another noted "Ashli Babbitt innocently entered an open Capitol as part of a legitimate protest, a Capitol purposely left mostly unprotected to entice them in. She was unarmed as were all protesters on that day. An unarmed “insurrection?” She was shot dead for her opinion. Who killed her?" Conservative pundit Walsh wrote "If everything else was the same but Ashli Babbit was a liberal black woman, and the cop who shot her was a white man, there would be murals painted in her honor all across the country, and the cop would be on trial for murder. We all know that. It cannot be denied".

Walsh also responded to another user's tweet asking why Porter's name was revealed while Babbitt's killer wasn't outed writing "Because Ashli Babbitt was white and conservative and therefore her life had no value, in the eyes of BLM and the media." Others resonated with his opinion as a user shared "If Ashli Babbit was a black woman killed by a white cop she would be as celebrated as George Floyd." 

This outrage from MAGA supporters was met with an equally intense snub from their opposition, as people took time to point out "Ashli was a #MAGA TERRORIST. #SeditionHasConsequences" Another shared "Ashli Babbit was an insurrectionist that sought to interfere with democracy. Blue Lives Mattered until Jan. 6th." Replying to the same tweet that asked why Babbitt's killer wasn't outed, another user explained "Ashli Babbit was a terrorist who attacked the Capitol & was shot in defense...that cop needs to be protected from the cop-killing crowd. Daunte was pulled over because he failed to appear in traffic court when they mailed his warrant to the wrong address & was murdered by a cop." Another noted "She was a terrorist and traitor trying to overthrow the US government. As we say in Georgia, she got herself shot. #FAAFO #AshliBabbitt."
